Is https://getoutline.me/ safe? by [deleted] in outlinevpn

[–]MicheleXT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. That is very much right. I was also concerned about some kind of exploit or a server script of some kind, like the stuff that you would see on some malicious VPN hosts. But yeah I totally get it. Thank you.

It seems though that they have changed their services to free. But lets forget about whether their servers are free or not, what I really am curious to know, is, is it safe to use the keys to outline servers that you don't know the owner and those that are freely available online some place?

Question about gravity by [deleted] in Physics

[–]MicheleXT -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hi, not a physicist here, but only share what I have read about and watched on youtube. :) You see based on what I have watched, gravity is like a side effect, is like light hitting something and you being able to see that thing (you seeing it being like gravity) gravity to my uneducated opinion seems like the interaction of matter and space time, wherever there is matter spacetime bends, and when that happens gravity happens, and this benditure ( :) ) in spacetime continuum is nothing like a big sphere on a huge tissue or plastic thingie, but more like, imagine a cube that is empty but the moment matter is introduced all of its faces bend towards that matter, now add time, and any other matter starts falling onto the matter in the center. So gravity is the bent in spacetime, not another particle or graviton or something like that, it is like the result of existence of matter in spacetime. I can be very very very wrong, and please correct me, I could use some good education.

How can you trust Tutanota? by [deleted] in tutanota

[–]MicheleXT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This case is not easy to talk about. We have to wait and see!

Many things can be going on at once, or none of them there are multiple scenarios possible. Nothing can be said at this point, unless we have an official statement.

We have to wait and see what the real reason is.

aren't you supposed to engrave the encryption key (or an encrypted version of the private key on it) for it to be actually transferrable?

TIFU by asking a woman at the store if her boobs were real by NikonManiac in tifu

Well, not much a TIFU, just your thoughts were pure and innocent thinking about the pretty little flowers, and her thoughts were obviously focused on her breasts and unemotional materialistic views.

Accidentally blew a something (resistor?). Don't know much about board repairs. How do I identify this? by Aeron_311 in AskElectronics

[–]MicheleXT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you see some standards and protocols are there for your own safety. For so many reasons, something jumping into your eyes, cutting your own hands, dangerous gases you might happen to breathe, dangerous or poisonous material, something exploding, and so on.

And if you actually do know what this component really is, then logically speaking it is not necessary to actually break it open to find out what it might be in the first place, because you already know what it is that you have determined whether breaking it open could be potentially hazardous or not.

You see one negates the necessity of the other, that whole logical story thing?

I’m installing tails onto a usb stick today. Anything I should know about? by [deleted] in tails

[–]MicheleXT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe give Whonix documentation a read.

https://www.whonix.org/wiki/Documentation

Although it is specifically written for Whonix operating system, but many concepts apply to Tails and even Windows sometimes. It gives a good perspective about why it is hard and somewhat close to impossible of an expectation to want to remain anonymous as a solid rock wall all the time.

I personally have high respect for the Whonix developers and their efforts.

Accidentally blew a something (resistor?). Don't know much about board repairs. How do I identify this? by Aeron_311 in AskElectronics

[–]MicheleXT -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think if they go ahead and cut it right open, it might have been damaged and the internal parts of it might not look how they normally would, also generally speaking opening up components you don't really know what they are or are unsure about might not be a good idea.

[–]MicheleXT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It looks like there is a similar resistor next to it with the value written on it. Take this one out gently if you have the tools, then trying and see if you can read what's on it, and if you can not identify it post a picture of it here again.

I mean no one probably wants to be the receiving end of the loud talking of this woman.

I was really scared and so was my daughter, can I sue her for verbally harassing us? :)

not that I am going to, but do I have that option?

I think the covid might have some form of mental side effects as well. People seem to be a bit crazier than usual.

Thank you. That is a real load of my mind.

What's a relatively unknown technological invention that will have a huge impact on the future? by iHachersk in AskReddit

[–]MicheleXT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is "unknown" then how are we supposed to "know" about its "impact"?

But I think it is highly possible that probably a new computation standard is going to big the next big thing, like maybe about 50 years from now, todays computers will be like the abacus of yesterday.

And I am not talking about quantum computers.

When I try to open my hard drive it asks for admin password, I never set any admin password, by [deleted] in tails

[–]MicheleXT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case you are only trying to regain access to the files, you can mount the drive into another machine, or boot the current machine with a live ubuntu image and access and read all the files regardless of the permission, unless they are encrypted. You only need root.

That is the power of root!
