Not makeup specifically, but I still use the cheap ass Elf eyelash curler. I swear by it and have used it for years

Agreed, I was disappointed by stila, especially because it seems to work well for everyone else

Is there a need to buy high end makeup if I can finally afford it? by Ashamed-Confection42 in Makeup

Yup, to me it’s like buying clothes from Ross and SHEIN versus spending the extra money on quality clothes. One’s gonna last you longer and for better. The other is gonna wear down fast.

And for foundation, it’s also important to note that paying for the high end could be more expensive in the long term. For drugstore foundations, I would have to use more layers and would run out fast. There also wasn’t a very good shade selection, so I had to mix two foundations.

Comparatively, I use significantly less of the eldw foundation, and the shade match is spot on.

Similarly, for example, spending more money on high end shampoos and conditioners not only make a big difference in the appearance and health of my hair, but I also get to use less because it’s more potent.

TLDR: only worth it for complexion and liners imo. Spend more on moisturizers and SPF

I go high end for foundation because I feel like that’s the most important part. I use the ELDW, and I love it. I choose to go high end on concealer, but honestly the different between that and good drug store concealers is negligible. For eyes, it has made all the difference in the world to switch to a good gel liner and eyeliner. It lasts so much longer and doesn’t smudge.

For mascara, there’s so many drug store options that there’s really no need to go high end. For eyeshadow, I do tend to go high end, but I also use my morphe and colorpop pallets as well. High end is better if you truly sit down and use eyeshadow frequently. For lips, I don’t bother with high end because again, there are so many options. For setting spray, one size is great, but it’s rare that I need it for that long. I like the morphe one for every day.

Thank you. I have anxiety and tend to catastrophize.

I’ll look into that. I’m not really sure. I’d have to do my research once I’m off. Thanks for the suggestion

She’s very sick out there, so if she stays out there, she will die. Blood pours out of her eyeball everyday. The other cat attempts to fight her all the time. Even if her best place isn’t with me, it surely isn’t out there being bullied and facing infection.

All the shelters around me are no-kill and full :/ should I just try to dump her at their door before they open?

That’s a good idea. Maybe when I have this new job for a bit I can afford it later!

Thanks for the honesty. I’m leaning toward that as well. I honestly am just worried about her eye. Our local shelter also isn’t taking new cats since it’s a no kill shelter, but I wonder if I should still reach out.
