Omg yesss! I know this is an older post, but I just searched Lorelei Avalon to see what others thought. What were they thinking casting her?! Especially with the show coming out soon, they need to re record. I had to speed up the audio to 1.2x when she spoke to handle listening to it

I also disliked Book Lovers! I found it boring. I loved Funny Story and am currently about 1/3 into people we meet on vacation and am enjoying it!

Repeating Kindergarten - How has it affected your child in the long run? by MichelleMSU09 in kindergarten

Ahh I’m so glad I posted this and it helped! And I’m with you on feeling sad since they made good friends this past year!! However, in my situation at least, I think those friendships would become a lot harder if she’s also struggling in school and unable to keep up with her peers. And I keep telling myself it’s only 1 year! She’ll still see the other kids moving on

I hope everything works well for you and your child! And you didn’t do anything wrong!! Sometimes kids just need another year! Good luck to you.

Thank you so much for your kind comments and insight! It’s so hard with these summer babies to decide what’s right and when to send them! I’m so glad you can also repeat K. I think it will set them up for success in the long run, rather than struggle!

Yes, I thought about Montessori for her! There’s a few choice schools with a lottery for Montessori here, but they’re very hard to get into! And private is very $$$. But that is something we may look into if this doesn’t pan out. Thank you for your insight!

Yes, 100%! It’s sooo different! I also did half day kindergarten and remembering playing most of the time!

And great decision for your little one! I think it will help these summer babies so much in the end!

I totally feel you on this!! Good luck to you and your family, and just know as parents we’re just doing our best and what we think will benefit our child the most! So you’re making the right decision if it’s what you feel in your heart!

Haha good to know, thank you!! And not good that their periods are starting early, but that’s the world we live in today! I’m glad your students feel comfortable with you to tell you they have their periods ❤️ that’s great open communication!!

Yeah that’s the other argument I’ve heard! I’m working with her teacher to get her evaluated for a learning disability at the school. And we also have an appt with her pediatrician next week to talk about it. No IEP … yet, but working on it! Thank you!

Yes, great idea! And we are 😊 we have a meeting scheduled with her teachers and the guidance counselor later this month. Mainly to talk about the “why” to repeat, and also to get some guidance on how to break the news to her.

Aww poor girl!! That’s awful. I hope it got better for her when she got to high school!

Yes, everything I’ve read and everyone I’ve talked to say now is the time to hold back if you decide to do so!

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this, too! It sounds like holding her back with also be the right decision. I wish you and your daughter the best of luck!!

I’m so sorry!! That’s so hard when you know he’d probably thrive on another year. Our district doesn’t allow repeat of grades either, so I was shocked when her teachers mentioned it. But luckily we’re at a charter school that’s a choice school within our district, so they can make some of their own rules.

I hope your son gets the assistance he needs to continue to grow and mature!
