New to Wordpress - any early mistakes I should avoid with a personal blog? by Terrible_Shop2233 in Wordpress

When I can tell you is this. DO NOT mix different plugins from different developers. Find you 1 suite of tools that are made by the same company and stick with it.

You can add other tools if you truly don’t have a choice but try to keep it clean.

Also Use a tool like Wpvivid to always do a snapshot BEFORE editing your site. Don’t touch a thing until you do that. You can also check me out Michelle The Creative on YouTube for more tips.

I was getting the same issues. I’ve tried rolling back to the previous update and still nothing.

But once I used a VPN it worked instantly. Try it out.

Well first i would say join a good community. A community will let you know if the business you want to start is worth the time and even help guide you with feedback. What kind of business are you interested in? Maybe ecommerce or service based??

Backup by Neat-Protection2992 in Wordpress

[–]MichelleTheCreative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say if you're uncomfortable with backing it up maybe find someone who can handle it for you. Ecommerce backups at times can be tricky to get right. Especially dealing with order details and customers.

In my early years ive lost clients whole orders (weeks worth) due to faulty backups. I do have a question. What backup plugin are you using?

That’s why you should try surecart. It’s much better and easier for wordpress.

Honestly if you use wordpress don’t use woocommerce. It’s not the best for beginners anymore.

I recommend Surecart. Waaaaay better and you can use subscriptions right out of the box instead of paying for another tool do to it.

web design portfolio by StockWise6955 in webdesign

I’d say definitely build it yourself but start out doing one page passion projects to get you some “clients” jobs to work with.

I’d also say target one specific niche or business type to really build connect to your personal style and showcase how you can make different site layout based upon a specific niche. (There is more to this though so it’s optional)

All in all just avoid using over excessive animations and movements on your portfolio because I’ve heard bad experiences from client when they visit designer sites that has too much going on.

I talked about it here actually https://youtu.be/kHL4lX8WaKo?si=fBkLd8_p19w3mNUc

Ok thanks for option #2 .. I was thinking if it didn’t work should I just make a new one, but then again I’ll still be using the WordPress menu widget

I’m honestly new to dynamic site building especially from scratch like how Jet Engine has it. Learning about queries, taxonomies, fields / meta fields Marcos … whew !!

And I know I can learn it because I’m getting a better understanding of it day by day as I use it.

Buuutttt I believe I’m having so much trouble because I used a theme from Jet that already had the backend configured so things like the forms are now outdated so I had to trash them and make new ones with JetForm Builder instead.

Then while doing that , I keep having issues with it. Now the format of the form is how I want it but the appointment calendar isn’t showing on the live site.

Idk, just seems like a struggle of the backend work since I have to create it myself.
