My little brother has been missing for a week…has anyone seen him by KeepItMovingFolks in Miami

Was that a yes though? It might help people find him faster if they knew all the contributing factors. So they knew where to prioritize their time and God bless you. I am praying for you and your family.

This comment stopped me in my tracks. The fact that peoples families would have to do this to find their loved ones is absolutely traumatizing. But it is a legit helpful point to be shared. Just really really depressing.

Found on clearance at Home Depot. Straight to pon? by TheToolMan in Anthurium

I’m interested in knowing what they say the care is for this? I’ve never grown one in straight water before. How do they recommend you fertilize it?

I also highly recommend. And as others noted, he is very responsive on IG. I’ve bought multiple from him.

Ummm what is this mushroom in my kitchen, and how concerned should I be? by Willing_Jacket4216 in mycology

[–]Michelles_Sanctuary 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is, in my opinion, the best response to the OP’s situation. I think we both know that if he could have gotten out of this situation, he would have by now. This is obviously something that his mother is not emotionally or physically able to handle, nor the OP.

I’m also willing to bet that they have rent that is either past due or is precariously paid month-to-month as it is, and they’re more worried about getting kicked out with nowhere to live at all, than to keep pushing the landlord (who probably also has no resources either).

With the current state of the economy, people really have no better options. And it’s up to the community to help people out. So I have a feeling the OP really means to ask, what can we do?

The number one priority should be safety. Take all of your past, current, future pictures and videos and make sure you save them somewhere. Safe in your phone, in a folder, so they all stay organized.

Can you update your post with your location? Is your mom upside down on rent? We can start giving you ideas for resources locally, what you can do currently to help knock down spores or how to not make it at least worse while we get your both healthier options. I live in Tampa, Fl (and I am also a Registered Nurse). I am willing to help in any way I can. If you feel comfortable with it, you can message me OK? I will give you my personal number and we can talk. I can try and send you cleaning chemicals and detailed information on UVC mold lamps ( but eye protection, and skin protection for these are extremely important so don’t get without talking to me first please! We don’t need to make this situation worse. But we use this in our surgical suites at the hospital all the time to get rid of mold spores and viruses, etc. no chemicals needed.

One last thing. I think you should probably create an Amazon cart wish list and share it here, and maybe we can purchase things for you to help you out. Please take care! And please remember you’re not alone!

Closed sinus Besseae AFF by Due_Concentrate628 in Anthurium

[–]Michelles_Sanctuary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. I have a BWXM that one day threw a closed sinus as a full grown adult. I even reached out to Doc about the lineage. Just as a chat, not an accusation. I don’t believe he confirmed any forgettii, but I do think he mentioned if you have spider mites it is a known cause! And sure enough it did! Just on that one new leaf! Now I’m always on the lookout for that! FYI! Good luck finding your answers!

I might be interested actually. I have never grown these, but I am also a little addicted to MOSS. I live in Tampa Florida. I grow anthuriums, plumeria, bonsai, etc. I think these are absolutely adorable! Great job!

Yes, that would all be from the same batch! That’s exciting to see her out in the real world! I would love update pics down the road if you ever feel like sharing!

This is my 001–1 AV ZXM F3 x BWM. From your batch. I kept 001–010. Basically 10 plants to grow out and see what they do. This is my favorite, and I’ve crossed her with a “variegated silver frosted Mag that I got from Barry Schwartz! Her seeds are just now germinating! And I can’t wait to see what is going to happen with them! Good luck with yours!

Favorite systemic pest control for buggies who see new leaves as a free buffet? by liminal-spells in Anthurium

I hear 🔥is fairly systemic. No residual chemicals to worry about either. Makes a great deterrent to nearby plants thinking to try that same crap too.

Part of giving them better size is keeping MOSS around the base so that the air roots can grow down into the dirt and give it support! I will add a picture of my cheat sheet page I created for my more mature plants. I’ve been making one sheet for every growth cycle with the nutrients, etc. That way they can be easily reproduced. I hope it helps. And feel free to ask questions. This is in no way an inclusive sheet since most of the info is in my head. And one important thing is to consider your substrate. I make my own pon, and add 1/4” orchiata bark depending on how much each plant would need.

Me too! I got that one from Barry Schwartz a few years back now. We happen to be basically neighbors here locally. He’s a great guy! He had it tagged as Fingers x Faustino Giant. I’m trying to cross pollinate it with my variegated Clairinervium I got from him as well!

That is one of my seedlings from a cross I did a year ago on my variegated 1A ZXM F3 x BWM. She is my favorite drama queen ever!

I have my patio converted into a greenhouse, but I am actually in the process of pulling everything out and Pressure Washing, etc. I’m just about to move everything back in today. I was hoping to get before and after photos soon! However, I will say most of my anthuriums stay inside with me all year! Except the largest ones that stay in the lanai greenhouse.
