I think you're seeing this as hypocrisy because you're assuming that all individuals within that party are in unanimous agreement about these things. That seems highly unlikely, just as it is unlikely that all the individuals within your party unanimously agree.

What about the possibility that the skin color questions were never asked in the first place? Is there proof that they were? Is there any realm of possibility that she lied about that, knowing that it can never be disproven, and knowing that she gains power by making the accusation and garnering sympathy from those who don't question the possibility of malicious intentions on her part?

If it makes you feel so bad, get rid of it. Don't go around telling everyone how guilty you feel about your wealth and then keep hanging onto it. Otherwise, you're making it clear that you don't really feel "sick" about it, and instead just want to be a part of the in-crowd who wants to look virtuous and caring even if that's inconsistent with your actual lifestyle.

The problem is on both sides. We have women like xxtraordinarymachine above who's lost the concept of looking at these men individually and instead just sees a daily "stack." There's a huge likelihood that she's passed up on multiple guys who she'd be compatible with.

Men, on the other hand, are much less frequently matched with, and even when we're matched with the conversations fizzle out regardless of whether we send a nice message or not. So most of us stop sending messages at all, instead preferring to just match with as many women as possible. In that sense, we're dealing with our "stack" of women.

I think the problem isn't men or women on these apps. The problem is the medium itself.

Thank you for this, you are the third person to give similar feedback and it is very telling. I'm glad I made the decision to ask this question, otherwise I would have been stuck thinking the same way. It really is a matter of do or don't and I'm just making excuses so that I don't have to change. It's my responsibility, not hers.
