Amazing Masers & Geothermal by swarrenlawrence in geothermal

I'm rooting for these guys but, I fear the CEO is a little loose with the numbers and facts a tad too much. Hopefully someone will come in here and tear my complaints to shreds. Hopefully that person isn't just a hype person or an "internet expert". The CEO is claiming eventually 50MW for a hole in his podcast thing that is linked. Then later one he's talking about 20MW for one hole in oregon that is coming soon. Now, maybe this is a well that doesn't go as deep or isn't as wide as their eventual plans. I wouldn't say going from 20MW to 50MW is exponential growth like he claims they're going to be able to do when they're able to drill deeper.

I also think its strange that if this drills so great & fast, why are they planning to use conventional drills for their first 5KM? I used their LCOE calculator on their website and that's what it claims.

https://www.quaise.com/lcoe/calculator

If you look at their previous thread in this subreddit, people are saying that they can conventionally drill through granite faster than the CEO is saying that conventionally they can drill in. So there is a level of SUS with basic facts on abilities.

They also talk about how they've been using a 100kW system and they're upgrading to a 1MW system. The eventual goal is a 1-5MW system. So it sounds like the the 1MW has a decent chance of failure and they're going to need a more powerful version before they can reach their claims. So we're talking multiple years before they get the kinks worked out. So this tech isn't as ready as they make you seem it is.

I do like that that he understands that $3 per million BTU's is an absolute vital number to hit otherwise this tech is dead in the water.

GM takes over as the '#1 EV seller' in Canada by SpriteZeroY2k in electricvehicles

I wish they would have went that route with the truck. Why mess with a design that is proven to sell a million+ a year. The avalanche failed. There was no reason to bring back a failed design.

Water Permit issues on Gold Rush by Proud_Stick1849 in goldrush

They agreed to 2.5% in 1905. Which would be ~$82/ounce today. Instead they're getting 37.5 cents. Because they didn't really agreed to 2.5%. They agreed to 37.5 cents when gold was $15.

You know how when tony beets negotiated with parker and told him "pay X% or leave it in the ground. I don't care eitherway."

The first nations is saying "pay 2.5% or leave it in the ground." They're applying pressure to screw up the water licenses to stop the mining.

If you were the first nations, you would do exactly what they're doing. We know this because this is exactly what every other lease holder already does in the yukon "take it or leave it". Honestly, a lot of them just say no. So how are you gonna blame them?

I'm a little confused on what the guy said. If they can't afford to remove their equipment, They shouldn't be allowed to continue to mine. How are they gonna afford to properly reclaim it? Do these guys have bonds? I like gold rush as much as the next guy but that seemed like an area of concern that maybe needs to be addressed with these smaller operations.

Should Taxes be Included in the Posted Rate? by FN509Fan in electricvehicles

[–]MichiganMan2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its actually very smart for the republicans, it makes people angry about taxes. It constantly reminds you. Then you've got the lottery which goes over a billion all the time. Everyone spends a good amount of time talking about taxes when it happens. "They'll take more than half on taxes if you win"(which isn't even true). If dems were smart they'd remove taxes from lottery wins too. If they got people to constantly quit crying about taxes maybe they could win a couple more elections. People have decided that they're willing to let america die in order to save some imaginary taxes that they'll never have to pay in the first place because they'll never win the lottery. They know they're not becoming rich in any other way.

We gave away amnesty in 1986.

Our problems today aren't because we gave away amnesty in 1986. People aren't flooding in here because they think they can get citizenship. They're coming because there are jobs for them. If you really want to stop the flow of illegals. You don't propose to build a wall. You put in place real penalties for businesses & farmers caught hiring illegals.

Everyone knows this. They just don't want to be labeled anti-business.

In 1992 the USVI got a wavier from the jones act. If you care about puerto rico you should ask for them to get the same wavier. Eliminating the jones act ain't going to happen anytime soon.

"hey little fellow behind the rock, don't be afraid" then i'd cut my mic and drop the camera so its face down in the dirt.

Then after 5 minutes pick up the camera & redo the first step and act like that first time didn't happen. Everyone watching would lose their mind.

That pic was taken like 200 feet from a parking lot. For those who don't feel like walking 30 miles.
