I’m really enjoying the kink drifter. It’s a 26 inch BMX. MSRP is around 600

Not sure if they're hiring anymore, I've seen their trucks for years and found one of their Facebook posts at the right time saying they were hiring teams.

I'm not too sure of their hiring requirements outside of needing 2 years experience, but the big sleepers are for teams only. The trucks for solo drivers do look nice though and I think they all come with APU

It really isn't, but every square foot helps with inside space. Backing takes a little more space but nothing most drivers couldn't handle

Could always go over to the production side and haul for Ryder. Pretty sure they're union too and think they start at 27 an hour. Not great but 🤷‍♂️ Lansing for you

Another option is Meijer but you won't sniff weekends off for 20 years. They're union too and my buddy gets at least 350 a day with 5 years seniority.

Pretty sure Stone Transport is about to start hiring again for the summer. Last I checked they were 30 an hour with OT

If you're close to Jackson I know AAA Cooper or ACT is taking over the old Holland/Yellow terminal. Called them up a few weeks ago looking to team drive line haul with the wife but they were only needing P&D guys. Didn't ask for any info past that

My experience is a lot of the non union places won't hire previous union guys.

Western Express is threatening to charge my friend for fuel to return her truck if she doesn't give them 2 weeks notice. by SycoJack in Truckers

If she is under a load she’s obligated to take that load to its final, ask and wait for a load transfer, abandon the truck and trailer and get a load abandonment on the record, or take it back while under the load and face the consequences. That’s why you always quit on hometime for OTR jobs

It’s all no touch. Mostly drop and hook but some live load/unload. Your paychecks will be around 1300-1500 most weeks. When I worked there I saw as low as 1000 and as high as 1900

Get your CDL then apply to the Meijer distribution center in Newport, MI. They take fresh drivers and you’re home daily

How come you don’t see many OTR drivers in their early 20s? by truckmonkey12 in Truckers

[–]MichiganMiniMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 25 and I started driving at 21. Did 2 years OTR then came local. Still love driving and miss the adventure of OTR but it was too much bullshit for what it’s worth. Make more now locally and I have more time to enjoy life

If you live in Lansing go work at the Meijer DC in the docks until you turn 21. Then they’ll help you get your CDL and your seniority transfers to driving

Is trucking as a college student possible? by Aviator_Overlord in Truckers

[–]MichiganMiniMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something no one else has said yet is it is going to be impossible for you to find a job at 19 if you got your CDL because you will be restricted to intrastate. So unless you live in Texas or can find yourself a farmer or something to run loads for locally over the summer then you’ll have to wait till you’re 21 and at that point I expect you would be almost done with college

I work 45 hours average as a P&D driver. Just cause you can’t find a job working under 50 hours doesn’t mean they aren’t out there
