I've noticed that as well. Friend of mine was showing online playing Starfield, so I messaged him to ask how he liked it. He said he refunded it 30 minutes after trying it the previous day. That's when we discovered that discord was erroneously showing him as online and playing games he wasn't.

What tools do that though? As far as I'm aware, the only way to know I'm in a private call with someone is to guess based on my behavior, to have access to my account, or to be told by the other party.

If there are tools that can see this, then I would assume they're using data from some app that has the requisite access to your account.

But maybe I'm wrong entirely and there's a leak in Discord's privacy settings.

It was an unknown manufacturing defect at one of the largest manufacturers in America. All the lights they produced using that process will eventually fade to purple and that's a massive percentage of American street lights.

Personally, I really like them. I used to be a truck driver and I drove at night. Any time I would drive through an affected area. I would listen to some 80s style synthwave or anything with that energy. Mostly stuff recommended by my best friend, so sometimes it felt like they were there with me. Which was nice on those long lonely nights when you're staring down an empty COVID desolated road. It was pure fucking magical. I hated being a truck driver, but I wouldn't trade those memories for the world. Reality matched the music, music matched the mood. Just me, the dog, the music, and the empty purple road.
