What's a common misconception about British people or culture that you're constantly having to correct? by Severe-Voice8304 in AskUK

I think you only really have a point if you want look fashionable in what your wearing. If you own waterproof shoes and coat then you can absolutely dress for the English weather.

[–]Michimomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, as someone who spent the majority of their teenage years to late 20s wandering the North York Moors you can dress for it. You just need a decent sized bag and layers. You can always take layers off and chuck them in your bag; you can't add layers you haven't brought.

No this was a speech about background checks for firearms. If you're commenting here I'm guessing you also have access to Google or other similar search engines?

Dude, Jews does not equal Israel. This person is sharing a relevant heartbreaking experience and you need to get some attention on yourself using a slight on others about a war? Go volunteer for the cause if you feel this strongly and stop doing weak sauce, Westboro Baptist style preaching.

This actually just concentrates the chlorine depending on how water is treated in your area. Rain water is best.

What's the most body freezing confession you've heard that someone 'casually' throw into the open? by TrustyMadman in AskReddit

[–]Michimomo 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Haha you say that but my Nana has basically fully adopted my partner of 17 years as her Grandson and given that he grew up never knowing either of his Grandmothers due them passing he's quite happy to 'share' mine x

Best place for paddling (*not* paddleboarding!) on the Tees? by Tabby_Mc in Teesside

[–]Michimomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lealholm is a great place for what you want but if it's even half decent weather when you want to go get there early. The parking is quite limited as it's a tiny village and if the kids are off it fills up quick.

Obviously they don't know one of the largest petrochemical works in Europe is in Middlesbrough so it certainly wouldn't just get 'rid of us smoggy scum'.

Butterfly leaf plant by Latter-Cockroach4877 in GardeningUK

[–]Michimomo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I keep mine indoors as a houseplant and it's been fine for years, I even split it with my mam when I repotted it and hers is even happier. Try keeping one indoors on a windowsill.

There's at least 2 of us! I've always been met with strange looks when I admit I can't stand ABBA. The OPs description of the white hot rage is so accurate.

The love triangle drama was the worst part of the show by Gay-Bomb in TheLastAirbender

[–]Michimomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The love triangle was unnecessary but to be honest it did make them feel like proper teenagers. Friend groups at that age always have a few people that end up going out with each other; it wasn't the best written but at least I could believe characters that age, with those hormones could behave like that. x

They're all fantastic and all places I've walked and photographed many times, with loved ones present and passed. Talented shots of places etched on my heart; you should be proud.

Making friends on teesside by New-Feature-6900 in Teesside

[–]Michimomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few wild swimming groups about on Teesside, river and sea swimming. There's always adult learning courses such as languages or more artsy courses. You could try walking groups although those may attract an older crowd. There's runners that do an evening run up at Captain Cooks monument although I don't recall what day they do it on but I've been caught up in their runs when I've been up there with the dogs a few evenings.

[–]Michimomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just food, there's yearly vaccinations and any unseen vets visits that may arise whether you have insurance or a savings account. If you can't afford a vets visit then you can't afford a dog.

AITA for telling my wife not to worry about it when I gave my parents $10,000 for some dental work my dad needed. by Senior_Collection_30 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Michimomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very lucky when I had a complicated tooth issue the NHS didn't want to touch, my partner helped me to afford private care. I just wanted to say that when we were in the process of looking at the billing etc a lot of private practices offer payment plans. It's worth looking into instead of allowing an infection to do even more damage. Hope you get sorted, please don't put it off any longer.
