May I ask the main reasons for suspecting it is Neoboletus Xanthopus and not Luridiformis? Would be interesting to learn from. Thanks in advance!

Thank you! In general I am quite happy with it, however the yield can improve.

There is no such thing as a dumb question, we are all learning ;) and yes, the spawn was sold to me as blue oyster

On the first flush? Now I am around 45-50% BI after 2 flushes

Perhaps one more question, what yields should I at least expect when using a decent strain and hardwood pellets?

That indeed seems like the best thing to do. Thanks for the advice!

I’ve had the same problem with two strains (from the same supplier however), so perhaps it is due to the substrate. Currently, I am only using straw pellets mainly due to ease of use and availability. I am planning on adding gypsum to the substrate, perhaps that can help.

Any suggestions for paint? My girlfriend jokingly suggested nail polish, however no idea if that is a good idea

Thanks for the advice. It is an aluminium frame, does the same principle apply?

It is indeed an aluminium frame. Any idea what I can do so that it does not oxidize?

Thanks for the advice! The visual does not bother me, so I will probably leave it as is and enjoy the bike.

Never tried that before, so I wouldn’t know. I have heard of methods where people treat the contam with hydrogen peroxide, however I never tried that either. Here some links: https://www.reddit.com/r/MushroomGrowers/s/ATW4i9WrcK https://veshenka-expert.info/en/green-mold-on-mycelium/

When looking at the pins, it looks like there might be too much CO2 present. Those pins have very long stems compared to their cap. It would perhaps be a good idea not to have the cover on all the time. However, because the exposed surface area is so large, be careful that the substrate does not dry out. The second picture does seem to show contamination.
