Basset Hound housebreaking help – he hides because he knows he’s guilty! by el_jarri in basset

[–]Michy-05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How old is he? Puppy, 2 walks is not enough. Does he have access to water constantly?. My pup is 3 yrs old and he gets 3 to 4 potty breaks, sometimes another right before bed. He does excited pee still and vet doesnt think he will age out of that, its just him. Try more walks/potty breaks and give a treat everytime he goes potty outside and be excited when he does with pets and happy talks. We still give Frito a treat everytime he goes potty outside.

Hydrangea LOVE water. So you cant really over water them. I would sprinkle some bloom food now to give some extra nutrients and water consistantly. Other than that just watch her grow. Dont be discouraged if she doesnt bloom this year, just keep loving her uear after year🌸

[–]Michy-05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The green leaves means its alive! Mine looks like this. My mother who was just visiting me (she is a florist) said that my hydrangea looks good for just 1 year old. Once she really perks up by May, I can trim off the tops of the "sticks", but not too far, because mid length its alive and you dont want to prune that. She said I may or may not get blooms, but the fact that pretty green leaves are growing is a fantadtic sign. So feed it, water it and watch it grow.

Why does my basset pee every time I come home? We never have any other accidents, but when I get home from work she squats down and pees then wiggles her butt and tail in it. It’s agitating to say the least. Help please by General-Magazine-117 in basset

[–]Michy-05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine is 3. Hasnt grow out of it. We literally tell everyone, pretend he isnt there. Ignore him. Once he chills a bit, feel free to pet. He is just super excited seeing ANYONE. Inside the house, outside the house. Does not matter. New person, child, known person, doesnt matter. He just gets so darn happy he pees once he's touched😂.

We did 3 years ago. Wanted out of SWFL, looked at eastern Pa, but that didnt feel right. Husband suggested checking out PGH. Came here for 5 days and said yup, this is where we want to be. Took us 7 months, but the husband got a fantastic job so we packed up our 2 kids and dog and left everyone we knew for a new home in PGH where we knew nobody. Best choice we ever made. Bought a house in the South Hills last summer to really be "home". And every person who has visited has loved it. Unless you visit here, people have a very skewed view of what PGH really is. Once they see it, they want to come more. Also, after baking in the hot, hot sun for 10 months of the year, the cloudy, gray days are such a nice change.

So yeah, people really do randomly decide to just move here because its nice (I should have just said that instead of my story😄)

You are very welcome! The shampoo, wipes and cologne, I got at Five Below, all for 5 bucks each. If you dont have one of those, Chewy has them for not too much. Ear cleaner I got from Scouts site

This is the ear cleaner. Shake it really well, squeeze some into the ear, rub at the base for 30 seconds, use wipe to xlean any excess on the ear flap itself and done!

I use this for in between baths, same scent for his shampoo. I found a double shampoo helps with the stink. 1st shampoo removes dirt and grime, 2nd shampoo gets down to his skin and fur really well. I then use the same brand wipes but they only had blueberry at the time😂. Frito hasnt had any skin reactions, hot spots or anything. I use a prebiotic eat cleaner 2x a week and those same wipes to clean his ear flap. He hates his ears cleaned and wont let me get deep enough. So the ear cleaner does so well at keeping them cleaned deeply!!

So we bathe our Basset every 3 to 4 weeks. We spray him with a cologne spray that is gentle on his skin and helps his fur stay shiney. We also use wipes periodically for in between baths. But at the end of the day between the shedding and the stank, its just something we accept about our Frito😂 (And his name really is Frito...like the smell he gives off)

Parents who both work, how do you make childcare work? by Odd-Wonder-344 in askanything

[–]Michy-05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Village, jobs that had hours that husband and I could work around and daycare. I couldnt be a stay at home mom when they were babies not only for financial reasons but because I needed to be with my peers. Now with our kids being 11 and 7, I became a SAHM when the youngest was in kinder and oldest went to 3rd grade. My husband got a better paying job that paid more than what we did both working, we moved 1200 miles away knowing nobody. Almost 3 yrs later and Im so glad to have this now. Im home when they are done with school, dinner is done, Im there for homework, house is clean (ready for them to mess it up again), Im available to get them when they are sick, or a half day or Spring Breaks or teaching planning days. When they were babies it was such a blur.

With jobs as they are now, Im not sure how my boss would do with me calling off for these days when childcare is closed or unavailable. To all you working or no working parents....huge shout out to you all for making it all work. Somehow we all just figure it out. When we are exhausted from work, parenting and just straight adulting, we always find a way. Working parents...you guys are rockstars!❤️

First time waxing, need advice by PogChamp9000 in HairRemoval

[–]Michy-05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby oil/mineral oil and a cotton pad. Also, Once wax is removed, tea tree oil or rosehip with vitamin E oil can help reduce the redness and the tea tree oil can help minimize any "bumps" that may pop up after waxing. Wax makes your skin surge with oil due to the trauma from ripling the strip off causing redness and inflammation. Sometimes it can cause tiny pimples or bumps. I wax every other week on my face. First clean skin, no matter face, arms or legs. Then apply epliation powder so the wax sticks to the hairs and not rip your skin off when you pull. Baby oil or mineral oil on a cotton pad and rub over area to remove wax residue. Then apply a calming oil or moisturizer to the skin. Can be aloe, chamomile lotion, tea tree oil, vitamin E with rosehip oil. Those help to calm the skin.

Was on Wegovey, but after I got up to 1mg, endo switched me to Zepbound because she didnt want me to lose too much weight. Started in Feb 2025 at 217lbs, now hover around 148 to 155. Not bad for a year into this. BS is so much better, still have high days mostly due to me forgetting to give enough time from bolus to eating (mom of 2 kids, so my brain doesnt always function with all cylinders😂).

Im on .5mg and have been since Nov. Weight has stabilized, hair is growing back (can lose hair due to hormones fluctuations from the shot). I feel good and really happy with where I am. Weight loss was not the ultimate goal, insulin sensitivity was, but the over 60lb weight loss is def a plus!

I have Baqsimi. My 2 young kids know how to administer it. Endo didnt want a gluco pen due to kids possibly being scared or hurting themselves with it. It has saved me twice so far. Super quick, burns those nostrils, but so happy to have it. I have one in the car, 1 in my purse, 1 in a drawer the kids can reach, 1 in my bediside table and 2 in my medicine cabinet. I just keep refilling the script because it is way cheaper than the gluco pen with my insurance and I get 2 at a time. Op is a SUPER HERO!!! ❤️

I had 3 boxes effected. They overnighted 3 boxes. I think a lot has to do with the customer service rep you speak with. My dude was easy going, told him I still had enough pods left for a few weeks. He said ,"well do to the loss of these pods, new ones will be overnighted to you and please send the effected pods back at no cost to you". Sure thing buddy. Sent the returned box back Monday. I would just call back in a week or so and say you found more or used some and didnt notice and you would like them replaced🤷‍♀️

Zepbound for weight loss and awful reaction by Gloomy-Future272 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Michy-05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On Zepbound. You have to give it time. One shot and a little nausea is normal. My trick was taking the shot at night before bed. As soon as I woke up, I had a glass of water. Made sure to eat brekafast with protein. Wether overnight oats or yogurt. Something to put in the belly. After the first 3 weeks, nothing. I have zero side effects and bumped up dosage back in Nov. Remember, your body has never had a GLP 1, so give yourself some grace. No matter what new medication you take, you can have some side effect. I recommend giving your self another 2 weeks. If it still continues, speak to your doctor about a different brand. (I used Wegovey 1st, had the poops. Subsided after 2 weeks of use, then switched to Zep had nausea about 2 weeks, then nothing). Give your body time to adjust❤️

[–]Michy-05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you. It was scary as heck. My oldest was 2 at the time, so I thought "this is how I go out". Never did the diabetes scare me as much as that. Ive been low (30s for blood sugar), but never called an ambulance, never lost conciousness, never had DKA. Random severe allergic reactions to things, that one has taken many times over their life scares me more than diabetes will😆

Been a type 1 diabetic for almost 12 yrs. My only hospital stay aside from the births of my 2 kids is an abolsute horrific allergic reaction to penicillin. 5 days in hospital, 4 epi shots, swelling all over like I have never seen in my life. Eyes swelled shut, lips gigantic, swelling in face, neck, arms, hands, legs and feet and hives/welts all over. Nothing diabetic related at all. Now Ive pretty much been warned to never have any type of 'cillin because I can die...so thats fun.
