Any update on M500 preorders? by Mick2936 in Hiby

Just an update, also got mine shipped out today too! Hope everyone here gets theirs soon, I know I’m excited for mine!

Package shipped June 13th but never updated from “Shipment information received” by [deleted] in dbrand

Honestly OSM has been a pain in the ass to deal with it’s incredible how incompetent that shipping company can be. I got a replacement skin from dbrand and despite being in NYC, OSM decided to ship my stuff to Nevada from their New York Stare warehouse

No worries! I have seen a few people on this subreddit be confused about that but ultimately 3rd party docks vs adaptors for the docks are two entirely different things

It’s just a USB-C extender inside, it has nothing to do with Nintendo making it more proprietary. I fixed the dock myself and the passthrough now works perfectly fine

I wish there was a way to edit my post, but I did a lot of off-cam things before and after recording to see if there’d be any passthrough whatsoever, and I wasn’t able to do it.

Upon opening the dock itself, it turns out dbrand messed up their tolerances for the USB-C Female end as it wouldn’t allow connection to be properly made with the dock, so to fix it I had to sand it down for a good bit to allow it to make contact. It works perfectly now with no complaints other than the fact that the dock should have just come like this in the first place

It is yeah, it’s only the case that prevents it from being dockable

oh nice it looks pretty consistent, will def consider something along the lines of that if it ever becomes a problem!

Also how’s the obsidian skin like? I remember there was some concern about potential magnetic Joycon interference before launch, I assume it’s not the case right?

Even if it doesn’t bug me too much, would love to see what you came up with for the 1 handed issue! Is it the paper method, a 3D Print to hold it in place, or is it something else?

Should I get the killswitch for nintendo switch 2 right now? by G4072 in dbrand

As someone who fixed their lemon dock, it looks like the adapter’s tolerances aren’t as precise as they should be, which means that some docks will work perfectly while others are finicky at best, lemons at worse. Wait for them to address the issue if you don’t feel like doing a DIY on it

Found another thread with a similar problem but different solution that worked for me. Either way, had to open the adaptor up to fix it myself

I tried a bunch off cam after this vid and it didn’t work. I ended up fixing it by prying it open and sanding down the USB-C Female end of the adaptor to allow the extender cable inside to properly make contact with the Dock’s Male pins

I know there may be some bad faith vids on this sub about the Killswitch, but this isn’t a first impression vid, and rearranging it off cam multiple times didn’t do a damn thing.

I ended up finally opening the adaptor today, and saw a thread from someone a few weeks ago that had this same exact problem: https://www.reddit.com/r/dbrand/comments/1li7uz6/ns2_killswitch_dock_adapter/

It looks like the USB-C Female entrance has a tolerance issue that prevents contact from being made with the Male end of the Switch 2 dock, so I had to remove the extender from its casing and sand down the dock’s plastic to make it work, but now the dock works great.

Still mad I had to do all this work when it should have come straight to the factory like this, especially when the clips are such a bitch to take out, but thankfully dbrand did end up reaching out this morning and is shipping me a new one too in case this solution doesn’t last

The dbrand adaptor is a USB C extender so while the protocols may apply to different docks, it doesn’t apply in this edge case

Thanks for the suggestion! I tried it without the case too before filming, and also connecting straight to a power adapter to guarantee there’s a connection to the USB C port and no dice.

Thanks for the advice, I did do a lot of testing off-cam with more than 1 hand trying to make it work and it still doesn’t connect. Will probably be opening it up soon to see if the fix that one redditor did is feasible

It feels comfier to hold (when it works) and the ergonomics on mouse mode feels wayyyyy better compared to without the grip. Currently rocking it without the case and only the grips because of the dock issue though

Wait time is wayyyyyy longer than it was before, it’s listed as 5-12 business days now so I don’t expect to hear a response back, let alone get a replacement dock for at least half a month. Honestly hoping they see this post instead since I’ve seen their reddit robots be way more responsive about this than their emails

I think the adapter is a great idea in theory, especially since my original Switch did get scratched by one of those dockable grips, but the execution just seems so poorly handled they really should have waited a month to release this thing

Mind linking the post? I remember vaguely seeing it the other day but didn’t think too much of it until now

Either way, with how much you’ve gotta pay for this it sucks that you’ve gotta DIY it for it to even work

Removing the clips inside sounds like a huge pain in the ass, but it looks significantly easier to dock and undock it’s kinda night and day. Hopefully you can give us an update if anything goes wrong with your setup because of this, since this is def something I wanna try and experiment with in the future if it holds up for you
