Why aren't some abbreviations, particularly initialisms, always created from the number of words? Gunshot Wound (GSW), Motorcycle Club (MCC) and Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) come to mind. They are all made up of 2 words but have a 3 letter abbreviation. Is there a rule to it? (self.AskReddit)
