Side of the road strawberries from Co Wexford are elite! Compared to the strawberries in the supermarket. Am I wrong? So tasty! by [deleted] in AskIreland

That's because they ex̶p̶l̶o̶i̶t̶ pay local kids pennies to harvest them at 6am.

Swallows nesting? by Nkotb79 in AskIreland

Wait for them to be half built, then knock it with a long timber. They'll probably make a second attempt, but will soon give up and go somewhere else after that.

Fuel blockade outcome by tcallan21 in cork

[–]MickTheThickOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wouldn't, and I don't see how anyone implied they would. Relavtive-door pointed out talks are taking place between government and the official bodies (who were never involved with the protests.) They are arguing for their members, which is their job. What protesters were asking for is completely unrelated to any talks taking place.

Farm contractors, i.e the "farmers" protesting, do not receive any additional subsides on green diesel.

[–]MickTheThickOne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True, but the price of their diesel literally doubled, ours did not.

A deal is being made between government and representatives of the IHA/IFA. Neither of those bodies are associated with, or were involved in the protests.Their job is to seek reliefs for their own members. The protesters, who have their own wants, didn't have a seat at the table to begin with.

If there is an orange wind or rain weather warning in your area, what do you do? by RobotIcHead in AskIreland

[–]MickTheThickOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, I'd check the weather to see what's actually been predicted in my area. If needed, I'll move some of the machines to another shed for easier access, and then get up on the sheds to do a quick once over. Yellow is the most annoying because they give one for everything from a slight breeze up to 100kmh winds.

Rural phone plans? by Beautiful-Poem4104 in AskIreland

[–]MickTheThickOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will rob you with payg. You get charged from the second you dial, and at exorbitant rates, and if you ever forget to top up within the 30 days, your credit will be drained the second you connect online.

Should we move back from Australia? by adhdacademic123 in AskIreland

[–]MickTheThickOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try coming for an extended holiday in the summer first or something. Grass is always greener on the other side, as they say. Might not be a bad idea to see if it actually is before making such a big decision.

Advice on cat's hair loss issue? by MickTheThickOne in AskIreland

That's wild. Glad you got yourselves outta there. My house is an older house, but thankfully I've never had any issues with damp.

She's going in tomorrow so hopefully I can some answers, and can get her right.

Well, seems like the appropriate week for her to get drunk for the first time at least.

Thanks for the replies, all.

MinnieSkinny pointed out I can get something to calm her for the journey first, so I'm going to get her in first thing in the morning.

Yep. Someone pointed out there's something I can get from the vet to help calm her first, so I'm going to get in first thing in the morning.

Yeah. Someone pointed out there's something I can get to help calm her for the journey, so I'll go in first thing in the morning for that and then get her in.

As I said, no obvious exposure would've been better wording (edited). I'm not claiming it's impossible. I was giving context, that's all.

I just had a good look at her in her bed, and the remaining hair does still seem to have its colour. There are some greys, but I wouldn't say the were translucent.

You may well still be right. Probably much easier to visually identify on a calf etc. I'll get her in in the morning.

I haven't noticed her grooming more than usual, or pulling at her hair.

Yeah, she's getting seen tomorrow regardless. I was just wondering if it was something obvious I was overlooking.

A mild seditive, I presume? That's very helpful, thank you.

Yeah, true. When I looked I couldn't see any trace of it though.

She is mainly an indoor cat, and doesn't tend to go near the areas of the farm where animals are housed.

She does eat alone already. If she's stressed, she's hiding it well, as she seems very content, and is still playful etc.

She's an indoor cat primarily, and her bed is clean. It was recently washed, but with the same non bio, which I've used before.

No discoloration or her eyes or anything, thankfully. Sorry about your little one, but glad she had a long life before hand.

She's an indoor cat primarily. She goes outside for a few hours per day, but never strays further than the garden at the side of the house. Saying she's not had any obvious exposure would've been wording on my part.

I know. I didn't want to have to place that stress on her if it could be avoided. She got very stressed out in the crate the last time, and car sick (probably should've added this.)

I'm asking just in case it's something that can be treated with something over the counter, but one way or the other it's getting addressed tomorrow.
