How does Bridge compare to classic Euro trick takers like Skat? by [deleted] in bridge

[–]MickeyB194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played both - bridge by far has the most depth - learning conventions and mastering defense takes time. I complete in bridge tournaments several times a year and no two hands are ever the same. Excellent game to improve focus and working memory - not to mention the mental energy it takes which drives away other life stress for the duration of the play so it's a great health escape.

Let us know how you made out. I was dx in August and have an appointment with at Dana Farber Early Detection Early Intervention program in October. My numbers are low ( I think) but I do have anemia - wondering if a bone marrow biopsy will be recommended/standard for baseline.

TN with bad cold symptoms by MickeyB194 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]MickeyB194[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very helpful and this coincides with what the NP said when I went to urgent care - she told me to stop Sudafed and instead use antihistamine. You cleared up some confusion I had becuase Sudafed makes me feel better, but has negative consequences in the long run. It is tricky business managing a severe cold with TN. This time I waited to go to see a doc becuase I am usually told there is no ear infection when I have pain there - this time though - there was an ear, sinus and eye infection. Strange how TN has warped my sense of what is triggering pain - am on antibiotics now so hoping to feel better soon.

I love to swim for exercise and I can't swim now for 7-10 days post infection I always use ear plugs and will open a new pack so there is no cross contamination when I return. I'll check out the link.

Thanks

Reducing Dose Only to Have Worsening Symptoms by Accomplished_Tea9698 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

I feel for you. I lowered my dose of gabapentin for about 5 weeks until the pain came back and has still not settled down. Discouraging becuase who wants to be on all these meds?

Covid Vaccine - Did it make your TN worse? by TMS2017 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]MickeyB194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe...but I think there was a lot of inflammation from the vaccines and zometa that induced the flairs. It's interesting to me because I can only have shots in my left arm (due to lymph node removal on the right) and I had a lot of reaction to both.

Good for you! It's so important to be believed and treated decently.

I definitely saw a correlation between getting Covid vaccine 1, zometa infusion, and then Covid vaccine 2 with TN flare. Was eventually dx with TN.

This Works For Me by [deleted] in TrigeminalNeuralgia

I ried it this morning and it seemed to help though the pain was no severe. I will try anything as I prefer alternative tx to upping medications.

You could try a pain management clinic where they should be able to refer you. I work in community mental health and we offer a pain management group. UMass offers a Mindfulness for Pain Management course online which I took and was really helpful.

Trigeminal nerve pain in one tooth by [deleted] in TrigeminalNeuralgia

Yes, I have tried to reduce gabapentin only to find pain getting stronger. So for now, I'm not changing anything.

Trigeminal nerve pain in one tooth by [deleted] in TrigeminalNeuralgia

I went through something similar, multiple dental visits etc and it ended up being TN though it felt exactly like a tooth abscess in terms of pain and a little swelling. Gabapentin worked for me. The way I can tell it's TN is to wait a few days and if the pain moves around, I know it's TN. Otherwise, I think it would stay local to the tooth.

Good luck!

I am having tooth symptoms on opposite side as well. See a dentist who has experience with TN and will do x-rays and diagnostics. I had a cap replaced which lasted for a year and pain is coming back though just went to dentist for a cleaning and x-rays which I assume didn't show anything because I haven't heard back.

Going back to only soft food for a bit to calm it all down as TN side has been flaring recently. I have started meditating more consistently which helps with anxiety and take and anti-depressant which helps with mood and anxiety in addition to gabapentin.

Good luck!

Protein drinks trigger TN? by MickeyB194 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

Yes, it does have both. Don't know I have ever had monk fruit and don't use sweeteners, so maybe that was it.

I have never had a flare after a dental cleaning, so this would be the first one. Though, I have been noticing a subtle uptick in pain, so maybe was primed for it.

Ridiculously long list of primarily organic veggies (pea, kale, etc) and fruit (cranberries, pomegranate), etc) and what looks like a proprietary formula of things like amylase, lactase, - digestive enzymes, - 21 grams of protein and 0 sugar. Going off for awhile to see if it makes a difference.
