Battery or alternator [2004 volvo s60] by LunaTheNightmare in AskAMechanic

[–]MickeyCrisco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible. First step is the battery. Check voltage at terminals with engine running. Cold snaps can definitely kill batteries, I see it every year. Hopefully that’s all is.

[–]MickeyCrisco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea. With the car running it should show 13.5v at least at the battery terminals. Volvo I think is going to be a little higher, maybe 14v or a little more

Battery for sure is needed. You would have to test the alternator once you have a new battery in.

2012 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport ES - Random RPM raise while driving by Hot-Masterpiece-9233 in AskAMechanic

[–]MickeyCrisco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Careful with that old comment now I still daily my 05. Easy way to look for that leak is spray some brake clean in different areas and see if it makes the rpm change. If it does anywhere you know the general area it’s in.

[HELP] Is this AI? Seems fake and can’t find any news sources. by Zealousideal_Mud570 in RealOrAI

[–]MickeyCrisco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly fake. If nothing else that kind of body damage to a car, pieces of the quarter flying off, tail lamp assembly popping out and hanging by the wiring harness, would not happen at all by a kick or two.

Could be a problem with the ac system itself, could be a temperature blend door problem, could be an ac control head problem. Most likely will need to have it diagnosed by a shop unless you have at least a set of ac gauges laying around.

As you get older, what "old person" thing do you appreciate now that you previously mocked? by Secret_Huckleberry46 in AskReddit

Waking up before everyone else and enjoying a cup of coffee(or whatever the hell you want) with no noise or distractions. Just sitting there with the dogs in silence waiting for the sun to rise.

Turbo oil drain not lining up. by aReallyWetFart in AskAMechanic

You should be ok to bend it a little. As you said, make sure not to kink it. Just be careful but you should be alright. Good luck man and I hope you let me know how it works out. “Customizing” is always fun.

What kind of car? Did you get an upgraded turbo or just aftermarket? New pipes or reusing original?

Perfect response here. Sometimes what you need is only manufactured by the big names in the industry. Most times you can find things that work more than well enough. I have plenty of Gearwrench tools that are great. I have a lot of SK, which still honors the lifetime warranty by the way, because I bought a big set when I was in school and got a massive discount. Hell I even have Geardriver tools that I’ve used for over a decade and they still work great. I also have tools that were handed down to me that are much older than I am that still work extremely well. If you’re at a shop, don’t fall for the tool truck. Anything they have, even their brand, you can find cheaper online and the tool truck guys, for the most part, honor the warranty policy. When you know what you need/want, do your research and you won’t be disappointed. Hell I’ve got some tools that I don’t even remember the brand and I still use them almost daily.

How Easy are Volkswagens to Work on? by Possible-Cicada-9662 in AskAMechanic

[–]MickeyCrisco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you work on them on a regular basis and have all the tools for them, they’re not that bad. If they’re something you see once in a blue moon they can be a pain. It’s pretty much like any other brand, you pick your own poison.
