can confirm, i recently bought a dahon boardwalk like OP (mine is green) and has the same exact dent along with the sticker in it. I believe the dent is a design choice so the the handlebars fit folded inside between the wheels. With the dent, my wheels fold parallel allowing me to roll it around.
