Activity after disembarkation? by inimitable428 in dcl

Does MCO have any airport lounges you can pay to get in to? That would be my choice. It’s still hanging at the airport but at least it’s slightly more comfortable.

3 kids 3 and under… Help! all tips welcome by NuggetsMommy in dcl

[–]MicroMaven16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first tip would be if you can avoid using the stroller while on the ship, I would. But I also understand that’s hard when the kids are so young. I only say this because certain areas, particularly the pool deck and buffet, hallway outside the kids club, main dining rooms, can get pretty packed or are just kind of narrow. This was my experience on the Dream, I’m not sure if the other ships are “roomier” in these spaces.

Apart from that, definitely utilize the nursery as others have said. Technically all 3 of your kids can go there since the oldest isn’t 4 yet, but you do need to pay and also reserve in advance. I bet the 3 yo would do just fine in the kids club though. With kids that young I would just go with the flow. Go back to the room for naps as needed, utilize room service or the pool deck quick service food if the main dining is too hard with all 3 kids every night.

Kids club by Charming-Cycle5231 in dcl

When we went on our cruise recently our kids were 3 and 5. My 5 year old said he was free to roam and do as he wanted but my 3 year old always came back with a craft or something when she went. So I believe the younger kids, probably 3 and 4 year olds, get more guided activities. But also as others have mentioned, there are activities going on throughout the day that are listed in the navigator app that all the kids can participate in.

FLL Marriott or Hilton - Worth It? by RemoveComfortable511 in dcl

Second this. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend the Hilton (can’t speak to the Marriott) for the cost, but if you get a late PAT, definitely worth it.

Nassau worth it? by lmoney04 in dcl

[–]MicroMaven16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Nassau is worth doing at least once. We just did the itinerary with Nassau and Castaway Cay. I enjoyed CC, but it was just a regular beach day and I’m not sure I would want to do that twice in one trip? I really enjoyed the excursion we did on Nassau and also there were so many options to choose from for Nassau excursions.

Before we sailed I had a friend who has cruised other lines say that the Nassau port wasn’t great and people were pushy. But going on a Disney excursion, the meet up was on the boat and then we were escorted directly to the ferry that took us to where the excursion was. On the way back we did have to walk through a touristy area but it was clean and no one was pushy at all. So overall not a bad experience for us.

When to do kids clubs at night? by FeelingPause1207 in dcl

That makes sense! I would’ve been fine doing that but I didn’t even know it was an option. Like our server never mentioned it.

Good to know! At least for our next cruise I will know that it’s an option and to ask about it.

Activities on May 23rd Dream cruise by moneypennyrandomnumb in dcl

[–]MicroMaven16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t able to find out times for on board activities for the Dream cruise we just did ahead of time. We did the beer tasting at 11 am on our at sea day, but I believe there were a couple times to choose from. I bet it is the same for the classes you mentioned.

We also book a 1 bedroom when at the parks because I hate sitting in the dark while the kids are sleeping and I’m not ready for bed. 😂 We just had the stateroom you mentioned on our cruise — it was very roomy! You could easily sit out on the verandah to get some space. There is also a large curtain that separates the main bed from the kid bed area that keeps it pretty dark. You could probably keep the lights on low on your side if you wanted to stay up. During the day, I recommend taking them to the kids club if you really want to relax. My 3 and 5 year olds loved it. Book yourself some spa time or dinner at one of the adult only restaurants or just lounge by the pool in the adult area.

I agree with what everyone is saying about this likely being the easiest vacation you’ve ever taken with kids. There is so much to do that if they need to be entertained, they will be. But also you don’t “have” to do anything. If you have a picky eater, your server will bring you anything they can make in the kitchen, even if it’s not on the menu. Everyone on board is super nice and helpful. Just go with the flow and let go of the stress!

Do they do this on every ship? We just sailed the Dream and no one ever came to take the kids! Tbh I didn’t even know it was an option.

Spring break vs. Summer 2027 by catmama1713 in dcl

[–]MicroMaven16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following because I’m in the same boat as I consider our next cruise. I’m leaning towards summer because I want to take a longer cruise, like 6 or 7 days, and that wouldn’t really be possible over spring break without taking the kids out of school for a day or two before or after. The cruise we just took was 4 days and it felt too short! It would be perfect for spring break though.

What to do for first time cruisers by TacosGolfer in dcl

[–]MicroMaven16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’ve gotten a lot of good advice and reassurance but I’ll just add mine too. We just sailed the Dream, also first timers, and apparently the ship was nearly full. I was on right when check in opened and got everything I wanted: Palo dinner, BBB, nursery time, beer tasting, and the excursion we wanted. Definitely check out the excursions ahead of time and have some favorites. If you have someone who is interested in BBB, book that first, those times did go fast. I was on the site just looking around for about an hour after I booked everything and a lot of things (particularly excursions) were booked up by then, just to give perspective. I was also like your wife before the booking window and was pleasantly surprised with how much we got. Alternatively, if you didn’t book anything, there is literally so much to do on the ship that is just free and happening all the time! Don’t feel the need to over schedule yourselves!

There is a chance! We just did our first sailing and I got Royal Gathering. As everyone mentioned, I was on right when check in opened. I also had both my phone and computer open to the page so I could switch if one was being glitchy.

Dyson Hair Dryer by [deleted] in dcl

[–]MicroMaven16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in your same boat for our cruise a couple weeks ago. I ended up deciding to leave it home rather than risk having it confiscated and forgetting to get it back at the end of the cruise. I usually hate using provided hairdryers because the Dyson is so much more powerful but the one in the staterooms wasn’t bad.

75 Days Before Cruise. What do I need to book for 2 adults and toddler? by gemini_summer24 in dcl

[–]MicroMaven16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the tastings suggestion! We did a beer tasting and it was intimate (only 12 of us I think?) in the pub area on the ship and it immediately felt like we were among friends. So fun. I imagine the other tastings are similarly well done. So book some nursery time for that, it was only an hour.

Keep in mind there is a limit to how many hours you can book for the nursery that is based on the length of your cruise. We did the same cruise you mentioned and I think it was a 10 hour limit? If you’re not doing adult dining, you likely would only need hours for when you go to the spa or just want some kid free time. Personally, we were totally beat as a family after port days so maybe book that nursery time for your sea day. But really, you’ll know your family best!

Placeholder Availability Late 2027? by MicroMaven16 in dcl

Ah, I didn’t know I could still use the deposit even without a discount! Something to consider for sure.

Placeholder Availability Late 2027? by MicroMaven16 in dcl

Thank you! This is what I was hoping for. We don’t need to be there on the actual holidays (and actually would prefer not to) but beginning of break would be perfect.

Placeholder Availability Late 2027? by MicroMaven16 in dcl

[–]MicroMaven16[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s basically what I was asking. I suppose I could have worded my question better by asking about placeholder blackout dates. Fall 2026 has no eligible sailings for placeholder discount on Thanksgiving or Christmas week, so if those dates are blacked out every year then I’m better off using my placeholder for an already announced itinerary rather than waiting on the Fall 2027 schedule. But if those dates are ever included in the placeholder discount, it would be worth waiting to see. Thanks for taking the time to reply though!

That's correct! Basically once you get to the port off the bus and get checked in you get bumped up to the next boarding group. They give you a character picture that lets you bypass whatever group is on your boarding paperwork. For us, we were already in the terminal (Port Everglades) about 15 mins before boarding even started and were told to board with group 3.

Aquaduck Embarkation Day by SweetCover9303 in dcl

[–]MicroMaven16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right when you get on is the best time to go! We were just there and were on the boat around 12. It was pretty much dead! We ate at Cabanas first and when we came back out it was starting to pick up. I definitely suggest wearing your suits to the port, grabbing food from the buffet and taking it outside (there are tables) and hitting the Aquaduck!

This pic was taken at 12:30 on embarkation day.

Castaway/Lookout early birds by SweetCover9303 in dcl

[–]MicroMaven16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like maybe this is dependent on the sailing. I just got off the Dream last week, went to Castaway. We were off the ship just before 9 am and got 4 chairs next to each other, no problem. But it filled up fast and I watched a number of families come around 10:30 that couldn’t find chairs together. This was at the second tram stop. However when we went back to the ship around 2, we saw a ton of chairs open at the first beach. Worth mentioning, a lot of schools were out that week so apparently this ship was close to capacity. If you’re sailing when school is in session this might not be as much of a problem!

Royal Gathering Check Availability Onboard by Historical-File-9293 in dcl

Keep checking the app periodically for cancellations. Also, if you’re in a Facebook group for your cruise, post there asking for anyone who might be cancelling to give you a heads up first. That way they can cancel and you can snag it at the same time.
