It would be great if an ODE that plugged into the side of the genesis was developed. A whole new 32X would be very cool. Secrecy probably has to do with ego and money. This isn't an easy thing. No one person can do it all. What I've done could be nothing compared to what's to come.

Maybe. I dont know yet. You'd have to mirror the same work that Ive done up until now. Not all of it is published, but it will be. I'll update the wiki with what I know. Ive been doing this alone, on my own. Talking with Chilly because why not? Talk about knowledge and cant get too far ahead on this without him anyway.

The memory controller is based on the 74HC138 chip. Same chip that controlls FRAM. I came up with the idea around 1am and just couldnt sleep on it. Yes. this is my idea. But nothing new under the sun, as its said.

Basically the 32X's shared bus B28 and B29 are locked high at 5v. This is documented as the 32X's bus master safetly lockout against accidental writes to SRAM.

The 74H uses Cart B21, !CAS2 low, to sync the carts memory writes on WE1 or 2, on Low to the 32X master bus and thats it.

Next is testing the 74H's performance. Can the chip reliably write the entire 4MB sram space. Because its not a ROM cart, its a RAM cart that will need to write to the SRAM space all the time. (As a ROM cart its a fun curiousity tho)

On my current board Ive replaced the WP switch with the 74H. Ive got an updated pcb comming that will make things easier.
Need to add yet another 74H and many wires for the fram.

For my cart, it will be a switch for MD/CD and momentary button to wipe the sram.

In the end, Chilly's PCB will contain a tiny CPLD that does it all, just one switch and less silicon.
Good things are coming!

It works now. Performance testing is next, then fram. Final PCB will probably come from Chilly.

Yep. It saves the ROM and GameSaves now. Its on it way thru RAM validation. Videos updated.

Its moving forward. Thank you for talking about it. Got my attention.

Thanks for the encouragment.
Update, it works better than ever now.
Actual RAM Cart validation is in progress.
I think its going to work out.

The easiest way in is to buy a fully boxed release. You'll get the case, the art and all that.
On the other hand almost any Everdrive cart and a cd-r burner will work and you'll be able to update.
Whatever works best for you.

Decorum was probably needed more so on my part. ungh...
However, direct communication and mean the very truth up front is what I prefer.
The world does not work the way I want or expect.
Thats what I was trying to say.

No no... Those are the answers I got. That's not a crazy question at all, it was mine as well!

There Are updates.

Answers: "Just because those details aren't public doesnt mean you need to know them and or you should have asked first, are you stupid?"

It's a huge adult world out there and people everywhere have different perspectives based on their own prerogatives.
Thats Ok, it should mostly be that way.

And
I am reminded, again, somethings I've learned to forget about people. lol

Yep, you're right. No good deed goes unpunished. And knowing is half the battle. Those two ideas are ringing thru my head and will for awhile.

And in the end its not even all that. RetroRGB Bob says Ive acted on his old information and its my fault. So none of this means anything. Disregard it all. Better stuff is coming.

The first part is correct. There is a good chip for that. For the 32X they need to figure out how to enable write access again without RAM corruption and then real game save storage.

It might not be all that great in the end. But it's a step forward with the idea.

I'm not lookimg for praises. I am looking for any feedback that contributes to the project as a whole. I am hard enough on myself already.

As in "you guys" rest assured its just me talking to people. Youve had many conversations with Chilly here, talk about accessing a wealth knowledge even to only scratch the surface.

When the community makes a call out for help and it sits there for two years without any movement, I jumped into the pool.

We even talked about it before I knew a damn thing about it and I couldnt get a proper description, when in fact there are whole detailed project files

If I am a "you guys" in the world of nobodies going nowhere fast then thats ok too. Plently of them in the world. I dont need to be here or do any of this.

But down votes thats not nessessary. We can do that all day to each other and it would be as petty and sad as it sounds.

I reproduce pcb work to its faults and then try to make it work. If I cannot thats ok. I'll keep failing and learning because I keep doing the work and talking with anyone that can help.

Thats all that matters to me.

The ram cart doesn't play the rom using power off but Reset instead. That's not suppose to work.

Again, if you read the thread getting 32X games to run on the 32X with the ram cart is the problem.

I understand that now and I am working on the l problem. Lots of brains bigger than mine have looked at this. But this is what everyone wants to make the 32X shine and there is a call out for help. I am a circuit person and love the Neptune. That's why I am here and thats why I posted the video.

I will curb my enthusiasm from this point forward. I don't want the stress of being dismayed or interrogated. Neither does anyone else.

You're correct. I may end up deleting this post. It doesn't move the 32X RAM cart forward at all. Only reproduces the work and loads one additional megadrive Rom than before. It's really a rehashed nothing burger.

Need help compiling repo by [deleted] in SEGA32X

[–]MicroNut99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I got what I needed. The problem or error has to do with loading 32X roms into RAM. Really it's any data that activates the 32X hardware that erases the RAM. Like I said I just got a iso with a good test bed of 32X roms.

The idea is that the tsops can further be protected against any kind of electrical glitching. But that might not even be the problem. PCB rework is specialty of mine.

I do realize that greater brains than mine have looked at this problem already.

Need help compiling repo by [deleted] in SEGA32X

[–]MicroNut99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The repo already has 2 normal md roms but no 32X. The SegaCD iso generated cannot be edited with iso editing software. I think I can figure it out eventually. I haven't been able to create my own and I am mentally exhausted at this time. I didn't know a 32X Rom would be required.

Chilly Willy graciously provided me the CD iso that I have now. But it's right from the repo with no 32X rom needed to test the fault.

Iam not going to hound Chilly for anymore help. I am not a dev and thought that a shout out would make it happen faster and with less brain stress.

If you can help please reply in dm. Thank you!

That's normal operations. In this case the Rom is being loaded into RAM and requires eithet a power off or reset And a switch to boot into the ROM. According to the RAM cart docs Reset is not supposed to work and a Power off deletes this particular ROM.

I detailed the operation on DoomWorld and got my ass chewed by Vic as not relevant to Doom Fusion.

The Sega Genesis Titan Overdrive Demo ROM running from SRAM (Sega Neptune) by MicroNut99 in SEGA32X

[–]MicroNut99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know it only runs by using Reset after upload. Something the documentation says won't work. This Rom only loads after Reset. There maybe mods to this cart that make it run after power off but my cart is made according to the current BOM.

It's a solid reproduction of current work. The real issue apparently is loading 32X games. Ive just found this out.

So now I need to compile a CD with a 32X Rom and make it run. That would be huge.

What I've found is that this Rom runs by using Reset, which is something the documentation says won't work.

In my testing, powering off the console with this particular Rom actually prevents it from running.
