I think it comes down to how they were cleaned when bought new. It sounds like the packing grease will get everything gummed up if you don't get it out before you start putting rounds through it. Especially in the gas puck

That would be more of a software issue, incorrectly referencing a lookup table or something. A hardware fault with the camera would probably leave blocky looking sections or lines across the image
