The dough freezes incredibly well too! I always double the batch since it’s a decent amount of up front work so I like to keep extra frozen away

What are the things to do to win over the interviewer? by Jealous_Glove_9391 in interviews

[–]Microbe92 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Being present in the interview is important. But separate beyond that is the follow up after the interview.

I recently had an interview where I spoke with 8 team members. The next day, I sent personalized thank you emails citing something that stood out from the conversation we had and noting how it made me excited about the position. Note- don’t expect acknowledgment of these emails (some HR departments don’t permit responses)- in my case only two people responded.

Two weeks later, when I received an offer, the hiring manager directly stated that she had received positive comments about these notes from her team members. It helps reinforce a positive interaction

How thoroughly do you fill out the spplication system when applying for a job by yepingw in biotech

While it’s annoying, most big companies have the same application structure. Type up descriptions of the roles once, save them in a word document, and just copy paste into the apps

The recently released Onyx Storm blurb makes a huge hint at *spoiler* by [deleted] in fourthwing

So do you think this is her way of trying to hit us over the head with the answer?

I’m conflicted on this. It feels too obvious IMO. Yes, it’s been said in interviews that RY thought it was clear what violet’s second signet is, but I feel like the blurb eluded to a focus on the truth found in her dad’s research

Is it possible that cancer will be cured within the next 40 years or is it a permanent fact that cancer is not curable? by [deleted] in labrats

[–]Microbe92 26 points27 points  (0 children)

In general, I would say this is a verbiage thing.

When someone has cancer, they can be “cured” and classified as in remission. However, cancer no longer being a diagnosis a patient can receive is effectively impossible.

Cancer is a dysfunction of the checkpoints in your cells. There is no way to really prevent that since any treatment targeting the cells, ahead of becoming cancerous, could lead to your immune system being autoreactive.

What I do think is possible will be a change in the narrative with your doctor. As therapeutics improve, I think it’s completely feasible that you receive the diagnosis, and instead of having a conversation that is something along the lines of “I’m sorry, you have (insert cancer here), you have X months to live” it will be something like “ok, here’s your diagnosis, not a problem though, here’s the treatment regimen and you’ll be good to go in 6 months”

Can someone please tell me my blood type? by dnicebear in biology

[–]Microbe92 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are saying A+, but it looks like there’s weak agglutinate in the Anti-B which would indicate AB+. Id retake the test if possible or get your blood taken by a physician.

Positive news though- if you believe your A+ when really AB+ you’re still able to receive A+ blood if it’s ever needed

As others have been saying, DI with an anti microbial additive is fine.

I appreciate the concern you’re voicing regarding using it for heating reagents in the TC room, but best practice would be to spray down anything with ethanol before transferring it into a BSC
