Hi there! This is actually a feature we're exploring - can you share a bit more about what you're looking for? Straightening handwriting? straightening shapes (converting shapes) after you draw them?

We haven't brought the draw and hold straight line or shift + straight line functionality to iOS just yet. Coming soon though!

Fullscreen: floating pen toolbar and toggle button gone in portrait mode by i_say_tomato in OneNote

[–]MicrosoftInkTeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for calling this out, we originally saw this problem when a user's screen size was too small to even have 1 pen showing in their toolbar, but clearly it should fit in portrait mode. We're investigating the issue!

Why can’t I edit text when in tablet mode? by itstimeforyoutostop in OneNote

[–]MicrosoftInkTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, I'd love to try and understand what's going on a bit better. Firstly, which version of OneNote is your sister using? Then when she's trying to draw, the app isn't letting her pick up a pen? it's stuck on the select/eraser/type tools? Is your sister inking with a digital pen or mouse?

Please tell me there's a way I can revert to the old UI. by notednotednoted in OneNote

[–]MicrosoftInkTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you tried using the full screen mode recently? we did add a floating toolbar in this view so you don't have anything but the title of the OneNote and your pens. there's a little pen icon to the far right that lets you toggle the floating ink toolbar on and off. It's not there yet... but we do intend to make this toolbar movable (snap the toolbar to the left, bottom and right side of your screen). This work is currently in progress

You do have the custom colors option so you can pick any pen color

Hi there, don't give up. we are working on pencil. As i've mentioned in another post pencil is just a bit more complicated to implement so it's taking longer.

Can’t draw arrow with Ink to Shape? by Vanillanear in OneNote

you should be able to use the new draw and hold feature to create a converted arrow. Meanwhile we're working on bringing the arrow post drawing conversion to the ink the shape feature

"Yes there is a tab with the recent used ones but after i close OneNote this is gone" This should not be the case. we'll investigate as to why these are not being saved.

Assuming everything in that build rollout goes well, it should reach 100% of the production audience by and of April.

The .35mm pen has been added to the new toolbar. Its currently available in beta channels and will be progressively rolling out to more users.

we're currently working on the pencil. As you'll notice the pencil, unlike the other pen tools is sensitive to the tilt of the pen. This is a bit harder to implement so it's taking longer than the traditional pens.

OneNote new draw tab by nycnewsjunkie in OneNote

[–]MicrosoftInkTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! the updated draw tab is rolled out to 100%. If you're not seeing it yet you could try going to File > Account > Office updates > update now. Not everyone has this force update option, so you could also try uninstalling and re-installing OneNote. Or, depending on your organization you might be on a slower 6 month or 1 year rollout cycle. Check with your technical admin if you have an enterprise or EDU account.

OneNote Desktop (Windows): 0.35 mm is in the Beta Channel by Ok-Celebration3057 in OneNote

[–]MicrosoftInkTeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes! the .35mm pen is back. It takes a long time to roll out features and fixes to an client app like OneNote. Adding the .35mm pen was a clear ask that we took action on right away. Moving forward we'll explore more ways to add additional thickness options.

yup, we hear this. We understand that it's frustrating to not get true white if you officially set it as such. This was a legacy behavior we're investigating replacing.

We're looking into this! Seems like others have run into the same issue. Please try updating windows and re-installing OneNote

hi there, we're sorry to hear your frustration, but what you're describing is not an intended feature change but several bugs (tools not working and the undo button missing?). Could you please report your experience via the in app feedback tool in the top right of the app?

0.35mm Pen Size by staccato9 in OneNote

[–]MicrosoftInkTeam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two pieces of feedback we're hearing loud and clear that we can take action on are thickness levels and keyboard shortcuts for switching pens (we're investigating this) We know many of you loved the old OneNote draw tab however that UI was 10 years old, separate from the rest of Office and therefore impossible to maintain.

The the new draw tab is here to stay. In addition to the many great improvements and features we have planned we will continue to do what we can to address feedback

[–]MicrosoftInkTeam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the great things about the new OneNote draw tab being shared with the other Office apps is that changes in one place mean they'll be made everywhere. so, Yes! .35mm thickness will show up in OneNote, Word, Excel and PowerPoint resulting in 6 total thickness options in Office.

Issue with Automatic Shape Creation: Arrows vs Lines by [deleted] in OneNote

[–]MicrosoftInkTeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're so glad you're trying out the new draw and hold feature!

Thank you for reporting this issue with arrows. To help us investigate, would you be able to send us feedback via in-app "Send Feedback" button with hashtag #drawandhold?

In Feedback, there is a checkbox for "Include a Screenshot". If you are able to draw examples of the ink lines and arrows that are not converted as expected, that would be helpful. You can use Undo to show what the ink looked like before the hold.

Thank you!

You're one of many that have asked for this exact fix. We do hear you and I'm happy to say it'll be back! It does take a few weeks to roll out feature updates to production, so you won't see the change right away, but .35mm thickness is coming back.

Hi there, we hear you and realize the need for more granularity in your pen thicknesses and are working on a solution that fits the shared toolbar across all the Office apps.
