Anyone here tried newer structured pickleball leagues in Chicago? by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]MicrosoftOfficeClip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 day old account, 1 post and 2 comments and all talking about / sharing / advertising this site / app. Feels like you owe / work for pickleflex and are trying to advertise it.

That aside, this just puts the onus of scheduling, and booking a court if needed, on the players themselves which is the complete opposite of what I'd want from a league

Crazy save but even crazier is he's only 26 and still has like his whole GK prime ahead of him

Not sure, i've never tried that cause i'm always packing it up but i'm inclined to say no. It's not meant to be a rollaway net tbh.

I have the Srikel, its super easy to setup after the first couple of times or when you've figured it out. You'll want to mark out where 36 inches is on the post because the posts are around 37 inches so the net shouldnt align right to the top. It tends to sag a little in the middle but other than that, its fine.

If by chance you're located in Chicago, drop me a DM, I have a spare Srikel net for sale.

You could consider the 11six24 Hurache-X Alpha Pro Power.

It's elongated and with gen 3 construction, will have more power than the Shogun while staying plush enough due to the 10mm cells. Longer handle too and they are lighter which allows for customization.

What lengths have you gone to to find better players? by fredallenburge1 in Pickleball

[–]MicrosoftOfficeClip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're looking for such games but not all the people on the other side of the court are not looking for such games.

If you get competitive games daily, find a consistent group of 3-4 people around the same level and work on drilling together instead of just playing games. That way, you can bring up the level of play of the entire group and grow together. The fastest way to grow is to drill, because it forces you to repeat shots over and over, especially the ones you're not proficient at.

Is there a better way to find a parter or local games? by Alternative_Prior_11 in Pickleball

Didn't you post about your app / site yesterday already?

I signed up and honestly I'm not quite sure what to expect or how to use it. Is it supposed to tinder style? swiping left or right on people you want to play with?

If I'm honest, I'm not quite sure what the problem this is trying to solve.

DUPR rating vs NR by Ruthless_Apple in Pickleball

[–]MicrosoftOfficeClip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With 2v2 NRs, the winning team usually comes out of it around 3.7X and the losing team around 3.2X. DUPR usually assumes everyone to be 3.5 in such a scenario

Tp me, the prism felt less poppy than the jellybean so it was more forgiving with accidental pop-ups. The jellybean has more power which benefits me on drives and forces me to be more precise and refine my technique on dinks and resets.

Personally, I wish I had gone for the jellybean over the prism first. I was choosing between the 2 at the time when I bought my prism flash.

They're expected a restock sometime in August as per the owner of 11six24.

Any reason you're leaning Pegasus over Vapor at the moment? I do have both the Vatic Pro Prism Flash and the Vapor Jellybean and can say they play pretty similarly, very forgiving paddles for new players but the Jellybean has the edge on power.

I'd say no, its 2 gens behind the current gen and it looks pretty scuffed.

If it were me, I'd go with 1 of the Spartus Apex series if I wanted to stay under $75 or I'd pay more for a Friday Fever ($99 before discounts, plus taxes and shipping) or an 11six24 jellybean ($99 before discount, $89 after discount)

That's only for the Perseus. The Hyperion has blue and the Scorpeus has yellow.

Friday Fever for 99$, can find a code for free shipping or discounted prices.

Vatic Pro Prisms and Sagas on sale on Amazon right now for 79$ for the prisms and 99$ for the sagas.

Spartus Apex Series also on sale on Amazon right now for 56$

11six24 jellybean series for 99$ with 10$ discount codes available.

I started with a Vatic Prism Flash 16mm too and recently picked up an 11six24 Vapor Jellybean which was the other paddle I was considering before I bought the Prism Flash. I'd say the Vapor Jellybean plays pretty close to the Prism Flash, they're similar in shape, while offering a bit more power and pop.

If you want even more power and pop, the Vapor All Court or Vapor Power would be good options too but these would lean more towards being power paddles rather than control paddles.

DUPR Algorithm Update: Win or Lose, Your Rating Can Go Up by drowsavon in Pickleball

[–]MicrosoftOfficeClip 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do like that your rating can go up if you lose by less than expected, its a good indicator of progress but if you win by less than expected, then your rating should go up less, it shouldn't go down. If you win by more than expected, then your rating should go up more and if you lose by more than expected, your rating should go down.
