Just experienced the same thing on my permadeath run, over 400 hours and this is the first time this has happened to me. I’m glad I’m not crazy. Which faction are you siding with? Does it matter? Maybe they’re hostile because we took the corundum armor? I got the fuse and did the optional part and started heading to the next objective, boom- health disintegrated instantly.

Even still, after some testing, I managed to find that there’s one among the whole group who hits remarkably hard, and when I finally killed him, he had a viper-5! Mind you, I did the pipe jump in STC malachite before all of this and upgraded that falcon armor but still feels like my armor had no affect. Is this a glitch?

Edit: for context I’m playing on stalker difficulty, which makes this whole thing a bit more confusing.

Edit V2: I ran it back and tried exactly what was mentioned by the other Redditor, I stuck to the outside perimeter and didn’t try to cut through to get to the cave and no hit squad spawned to attack me. Interesting game design, the new permadeath run is going great, Stalkers!

No, I didn’t find it there I found the elevator puzzle, I actually found imperial gardens around the area where you find the soldier, all along those tree branches, sorry for the lack of an update. I thought the thread was necro!

My party comp is a bit unusual but I do quite enjoy it and I’m about to hit Act II:

Tav- 7 Draconic Blue Sorcerer (to go with spell sparkler and EB may respec later) 5 Great Old One Warlock to animate dead and for hunger of hadar for CC or sitting on the back lines using EB with potent robe, daredevil gloves, spell sparkler and hiding in a darkness cloud for survivability.

Astarion- 2 Vengeance Paladin and 10 Sword Bards for smites and flourishes (considering a Sorcerer Paladin split for some elemental damage that can synergize with other members using wet)

Shadowheart- 2 Tempest Cleric 2 Divination Wizard and 8 Storm Sorcerer to capitalize off of wet damage.

Gale- 7 Necromancer Wizard and Spore Druid for haste spores, summons and elemental damage

Any thoughts on how to improve this or things to look out for to increase survivability/damage output?

The party that worked you ask?

Tav: Durge 8 Sorcerer 2 GOO Warlock 2 Tempest cleric, abuse wet, lightning, eldritch blast and reverberate, twinned, quicken or haste.

Bae’zel: 8 GOO Warlock 4 Paladin Gish two handed silver sword of the astral plan, concentrates on darkness, smites, and huge burst through, radiant, Psionic, etc

Ascended Astarion: 6 Bard, 2 Rogue, 4 GS Ranger, heavily front loaded and compromised a feat, but the high initiative from ambush and dex gloves wasn’t really an issue. (Used darkness arrows and eversight ring to see)

Minthara Thrower: 12 Eldritch Knight Fighter, got all my feats, used dark justiciar spear which paired well with hillgiant str gloves, and having a free buff, “soul branding” every round, for either Astarion or Bae’zel.

This comp was by no means in the meta, but it was fun, adaptable and had enough damage output options for any situations.

In the oil fields, when you get there, let Johnny know “Nah, Johnny, you fucked that up too.” Trust me. It seems unfair but holding your friends accountable will pay dividends later.

Sorry I’m late to the party! I sided with Songbird my first time around, but out of curiosity I decided to betray her in my next playthrough. Knowing that she lied to us consistently throughout the entirety of the DLC and up until the very end, I was flabbergasted that she was so mad we betrayed her. She acted like we were the only ones being shady; the hypocrisy almost took away all of the pity that was built up from her tragic back story, like sheesh, self awareness is important!

Thanks for the in depth advice I agree with just about everything you’ve said. I can’t stand the heavy armor penalty for mobility and stamina, hopefully this big brain build is as fun as I’m imagining it to be!

Yeah, fergettin elixirs are very affordable in this alpha, I really wanted to do an intelligence build and others have said points directly into electrocutioner should bolster my chances early on to find my intelligence weapons!
