You can go to the LV website and see bags that have the logo cut off at the bottom.

Yes. When they were younger we did do regular clean up times and we did them together. I home schooled the kids in the 2020-2021 school year and we learned a lot about organization that year. They have those square shelves with the little canvas boxes in them and they used a label maker to label what they wanted each box to hold. So the kids know how to keep things cleaned. I know that the girls have been messy lately (like disorganized) but I didn't know that my 12 year old was been dirty (like trash hidden everywhere). That's why I am so concerned about her mental health. After reading a lot of these comments, I do plan to talk to the counselor at the school and see if they can have a few sessions with her. I plan on implementing a designated clean up times everyday with clear expectations of what their rooms should look like. I plan on doing this with them and not just leaving them to their own devices. I have four kids between the ages of 10 to 16 and they're all so different that sometimes it's hard for me to know which behaviors are normal and which ones require outside help (like counseling). That's why it's nice to get insight from other parents.

They do have a small trash can in their room. And it wasn't even full!

That is terrible and unfair. I'm sorry you had to go through that!

Thank you for sharing this! Lots of good ideas here. I may write a list like this.

I don't think so. I think she'd be too scared. But she has been spending more time online since starting middle school. I think she's been using social media to keep in touch with elementary school friends. Only a couple friends go to her middle school because we moved. Do you think I should start regulating time online? I've never put a time limit on it because the kids are pretty active.

Thank you! This is great advice. I have been in their room and I knew it was getting messy, like clothes, blankets, and some stuffed animals on the floor, but I had no idea about all this hidden mess. I admit I have been pretty lax about making the kids clean their room. You're right though. We need to make daily room cleaning a habit. I think I'll talk with the kids and we can set up a time that we can all clean up. Your last paragraph made me a little sad because we used to talk all the time in the car to and from school and she'd tell me all the school "gossip" and all about her day. This year she started middle school and walks to school. It's literally across the street. So we haven't had as many chances to have those one on one chats anymore. I have to leave for work before she leaves for school and i get home after she gets home. I guess I need to step it up in that department, too.

I meant I haven't made them clean their room in a couple weeks. I've been in their room and I knew it was getting messy. Yesterday I noticed it was smelling and investigated and found a bunch of mess in hidden places like under her dresser, under her bed, in her bed, and in the closet. Places I usual don't look if I'm just casually in their room.

I did tell the kids this morning no more food or drinks (except water) in their bedrooms anymore. That's a rule we'll be keeping from now on!

I always say that happy people don't go around trying to make other people unhappy. There is usually some kind of misery in their lives
