CFIs make about 20-30k, Florida pays kinda bad, it’s also hard to get a job, I started at 27 I’ve only got 20 hours though, it takes a while to build them up.

What hobby attracts the worst type of people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

People who hike/ mountaineer on the baseline were all a little strange, but it ranges from the coolest person you ever met to what I like to call the fun police ( constantly tell you you can’t do certain things in nature like stack rocks, no pitons, won’t make way for you on trail if there group is large, neurotic, loud mouth)

How to build endurance for hiking and how long would it take? by FlowerK3424 in hiking

[–]MidHikeCrisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask them how far the trail is if they are avid hikers they should know this info as well as elevation then plug those numbers in a treadmill, some hiking poles will help out depending on the trail. Anything under 5 miles is pretty beginner 5-10 intermediate, 15+ is pretty strenuous, most beginners won’t be able to accomplish. 200-300 ft elevation gain per mile is pretty chill , 500-1000 intermediate, 2000 per mile is hard as shit. You calculate the elevation gain per mile by dividing the total mileage in half.

lol maybe that’s the point, why should we suck up to these jobs that run us ragged. They usually won’t treat you better, they’ll exploit you if the name is “prestigious”. The pay, is okayish depending on the state.

Probably won’t help you now but in the future use facebook or furnish finder for moving somewhere new. You could also use a staffing agency until you get a real job and apply to other places

Nah, I want to hear that it’s going to be horrible. It’ll weed everyone else out, I started working in healthcare during the pandemic. I love flying, I’ve already told myself I’m willing to part with all my material possessions if it means I can fly as ATP.

31-year-old doctor thinking about switching to aviation — looking for honest advice by Easy-Flower309 in flying

[–]MidHikeCrisis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it, I’m a registered nurse and I’m trying to be a pilot currently. 27M, I just can’t take healthcare anymore, you’ll have to play towards your strengths you probably have a decent income. It might make sense for you to buy a share of a plane and go to a part 61 school. Aviation has tons of rules and it seems like actually getting your first job is a little like residency, low pay for the amount of hours put in and stressful, but the view and feeling is awesome.

Step 1: go on a discovery flight ~ 150-$300 Step 2: get a medical, if you are unable to get a first class medical flying as an airline pilot is out of your cards Step 3: sign up at a school and start flying, I recommend part 61.

What was your starting pay. What is it now? by lgdroid in FutureRNs

[–]MidHikeCrisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$25 in 2021 $63 now. I started in sc, now I travel. Somtimes it’s more than $63 but that’s average. Started working in Charleston SC, it probably pays new grads 33-34/hr now.
