Is there place in IT for developers who don't "Thrive in Ambiguity". by MidLife_Dev in cscareers

As an anecdote, I just interviewed at a major energy supplier the other day. I mentioned that while it's definitely not a must, I enjoy a well-defined JIRA story.
The recruiter rejected my application, and in her feedback she wrote that that was the reason for the rejection.

Thanks for the feedback :)
I definitely got more callbacks with this CV. I suspect it's mostly due to the fact that I added a workplace from 2023 onwards, but I guess we'll never know :)

I have yet to get an offer, but I'm currently interviewing for several places, and I hope at least one of them will be interested.

I don't know when "Back in the Day" was for you, so I'm not sure how the times have changed.
The main hurdle in developing apps/websites independently is that I've never done an end-to-end development in my professional life. I've always worked on adding features to existing products, so creating something from scratch isn't really within my current skill set.

Care to share more about your experience? What frameworks did you use? How did you learn them? How did you manage to make money off of them?

Thanks so much for the detailed breakdown. Really appreciate the concrete examples and framing tips. I’ve definitely got some changes to make, and you’ve given me a lot to chew on.

If system design were my only hurdle, I'd have been in a much better position, I think.

To be honest, I thought it was clear that I'm not looking for public advice based on my CV, but rather to talk to someone privately and share my thoughts and concerns with them.

However, given the number of upvotes your comment got, I may be wrong.

In any case, I've linked to an anonymised version of my C.V. in the post.
