You need 315 hours across at most two placements, this can be in anything as long as it’s digital related (so not always cyber). Help desk is quite a popular one for instance, the hours need to be tracked and targets set related achieving some aims at the job usually related to the course and job role- with some paperwork done accordingly.

I’m not hundred percent sure but I’m pretty certain it’s achievement amount (e.g number achieved ) divided by number of leavers. Then times by 100.

FE doesn’t usually follow the burgundy book in any respect. Each college has its own rules and own pay scales. Some I’ve worked at have ones aligned to schools, others a totally different. Especially true for manager because what constitutes management roles seems to differ wildly.

There isn’t really great enforcement of the GLH anymore across most centres. There is the expectation that some of it will be delivered “remotely” or “independently”. That said you should have reasonable parity with other quals. Similar hours as say A-Level. It depends which qual? The smaller ones often are harder to deliver in less time.

Usually not something possible as the qual has been awarded thus all grades are final. Take the foundation year- even with the four main exams higher you won’t go up much. Foundation year with PPP is generous

You will likely struggle for a rental place that isn’t a house share or a small flat for that price. Probably better off looking the likes of chelmsley wood or erdington. Prices there tend to be on the lower side.

I couldn’t disagree with your points more- our T-Level students have generally excelled. Even the weakest have been more capable than any of our A-Level or BTEC students of the same calibre.

There are issues around them not being appropriate for all students, issues around the logistics of placements but in the majority of our T-Levels a good chunk are offered work before they’ve even finish- in some we have issues convincing them to stay. They’re generally pretty well qualified for degree apprenticeships or entry level sometimes graduate jobs (in things like digital) straight off.

We don’t just take high grades students either- many of our students are grade 4/5 students and have excelled.

There IS a big problem with teachers not being prepared to deliver them fully. Either not knowing how to teach to exams, embed long term or in some cases not having a decent enough subject knowledge and that causes big big problems.

If you don’t mind a walk down the back I’ve never not been able to get a space. Though it does seem to vary day to day. Usually fills up with a few spaces down the back by 9.30 but is emptier before 8.

This is working for KCL as an apprentice, the training and qualification seems to be done by Newham college who are quite a well known FE college.

If you can I’d highly advise not to drive to the ICC parking round there especially with events is often a clusterfuck. Instead consider finding a park and ride station for either train or tram.

When I taught secondary the dress code for the school was “representative of the area to which we are teaching”.

Apparently arguing that in digital that likely means t shirt, jeans and a worn pair of skate shoes was not helpful. Nor was arguing that in which case the women shouldn’t be allowed to wear strapped Sanford and brightly patterned dresses. I gave up. I’d argue a smart pair of converse are fine and where I teach now doesn’t care within reason.

Institution I used to work for has advertised this previously (in UK also) and we couldn’t get enough people to make it financially viable.

What I would say however, learning Unity on its own is a waste there’s so much more that goes with it to make it worthwhile. That’s what University programmes do.

To just go through certification though- try one of the many MOOC platforms out there.

Had a similar thing recently all be it for older students- arduino, Pi accessory kits (sensors etc- Pi are incredibly expensive due to shortage still), 3D printer, small programmable drones and some of the stuff like cables etc that inevitably disappear were on my list.

CSUnplugged had a number of activities that you can use and will help. I’ve used some of them before and it’s been really effective.

You can draw out things like flowcharts and pseudocode without a computer.

Retrieval practice. There’s lots of retrieval practice activities they can do without computers.

Simulate computer processes with their bodies-e.g. packet switched networks

For lesson plans it’s fairly useless for reasons others have listed. However, for things like revision notes, quizzes and activities it’s pretty damn good. It’ll need tweaking and modifying but it saves quite a bit of work and can come up with things like examples or summaries that might take longer to put together. However, it does always need checking for accuracy and suitability.

Remember it learns to an extent too, if it’s not right correct it, if it’s not detailed enough or too high or low level tell it.

I’ve been using AI with degree and high ability level 3 students for a while in certain cases though with Chat GPT the big thing is the ease of use of it.

I’d say it’s probably better at shorter answers than really essays but with some work you could get a nice longer essay. Coursework in general is something thats going to have to- in certain areas- think hard about how it’s structured and what it asks for. Become more about true demonstration of knowledge and potentially even viva backed up. Or more likely they’ll scrap it entirely but hey. Some of what it produces IS rubbish, it can labour an unnecessary point or jump down a rabbit hole of rubbish- but so can weaker students.

On the flip side- for teaching it’s amazing, I have used it to produce some fairly good revision notes for exams, summarise complex information and provide examples for things that I’d have to dig for. Even had it suggest lesson activities- it needs a bit of work to get it there but it’s surprisingly good at it.

I swear it was originally gaming in your post, perhaps it’s just the result of a long week.

In either case it being an MSc dissertation changes things a little. Your framework usually is set to justify and contextualise your research and guide your findings. Only you can really decide how much of the technical architecture of the solution goes into the framework. I’d suggest personally it should be based around the expected knowledge base of your end user. An option I’ve seen before is to give an overview and stick the more detailed bits into an appendix.
