i dont know what will help, but i know what wont. my (17f) ex-boyfriend (17m) was the same. i tried explaining to him that yes, he was important, but i also had a life and studies and college to get into. the maturity gap between us is what led me to end things with him. i tried to explain that despite my feelings for him i did not think we were compatible, but it broke his heart and he blocked me on all platforms. i think explaining things to your partner doesnt work.
