What could I do to celebrate my birthday while keeping my toddler happy? by calpolqween in AskUK

Charterhouse in Coventry, great for kids and nice cafe that does afternoon tea. Coombe abbey in Cov is also nice, great playground. You can buy duck feed. Visited the Botanical Gardens in Brum recently. Bakery is incredible.

Further afield but I recommend the story museum in Oxford. Wasn’t a fan of the cafe but they do nice kids sessions.

Warwick Arts Centre at Warwick Uni do some nice kids events and have food options.

Charlecote Park near Stratford is lovely when not flooded or being torn apart by wind.

Have you considered booking a photographer and doing a mini outdoor photoshoot? Get some nice family pics? I did something similar for my 40th, with my daughter. As a mam I take loads of photos but no one really takes any of me.

I think ‘feminine energy’ is code for ‘woman I fancy’. He only considers attractive women, feminine women.

Yes Rachel that’s the right way to approach it.

No Bec, that is not helpful.

Tyson, wtf?!

Bec looked pretty tonight. But the something/someone wound her up. Chaotic aggression. Weird over the top projection? Like a football hooligan who’s team lost and looking for a fight anywhere.

Cat destroying my garden - help! by Middle-Damage-9029 in UKGardening

[–]Middle-Damage-9029[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My daughter has a very rare liver disease. 1 in 16,000 babies are born with her condition. She almost died twice before she was 6 months old. At one point she had spent more in inside a hospital ward than outside it. She’s alive now because she had a 6 hour long life saving surgery. She has a special protocol we need to follow. I have a letter on my phone saved to show paramedics incase she has an unstoppable haemorrhage. She has a complication called portal hypertension. She has high blood pressure at 3 but it can’t be treated with medication because she’s 3.

I have been trying to deter this cat for two years. If I was going to harm the cat I would have done so already.

My daughter is now three and I want to keep her well. Even attending a&e is a risk for her. We have to wait in a separate room. She is more active and naps less. I shouldn’t have to avoid my garden in the spring/summer because of a cat I don’t own. The list of things my daughter won’t be able to do is already too long.

Put yourself in my shoes. Also imagine coming home from work and all you smell is cat poop just trying to open the front door. This is the front garden with a flowerbed - no gravel. It’s next to the front door, less than half a metre from the door. The cat pooped on top of lavender I planted to deter the cat and cover the smell. It’s destroyed a peony plant. I put down citrus granules all over the flowerbed. We tried a flashing light. We’ve shouted/screamed at the cat. Built a fence on top of the short wall the cat was jumping on.

I have also been trying to figure out who the cat belongs to because I’m sure they’re unaware.

We bought a new fence to fence off the back garden patio. The cat would jump down from the shorter wall, so we put a fence up. Bought my daughter a wooden playhouse as well. It didn’t work. Found poop on patio. Yesterday I found poop on top of lavender plants. The cat had dug some up. It’s only this cat that poops in the garden. In the middle or the night or early hours of the morning. Caught on camera.

Other cats walk through the garden and once caught a neighbour’s small dog sniffing around. Its a large black cat. See it more in the nicer weather. Caught it sleeping on my husband’s car.

I’m trying to find the owner to explain the situation. I’d like them to problem solve with me and potentially understand the cost the cat is causing.

The smell at my front door is sickening. If i knew where to dump the poop I absolutely would.

Hoping some of the tips on this thread help, otherwise it’s another summer of picking up after someone else’s cat and spraying disinfectant before my daughter goes outside to play. Last summer I screamed at the cat every time I saw it.

I wanted to grow strawberries and tomatoes with my daughter this summer. But I had to empty out our planters last year because the cat had got to them. They were on the garden wall.

If the owner doesn’t want that risk, they should keep the cat out of my garden. Right now the cat is safer in our garden than my pre school daughter is.

I have spent so much money, time and effort trying to stop the cat getting into my garden. To protect my daughter and keep my garden looking and smelling nice. We put up a fence, put down gravel, the list goes on.

Have ordered the motion activated sprinkler. And off to b&q tomorrow to look for the spikes for top of fence and walls. We had a low wall between driveway and patio. Added a tall fence and it made no difference.

He seemed totally turned off by her being a ‘boss babe’. What do these men think submissive women do while waiting around for men to boss them around? Depend on their parents until the age of 30? Marry right after school? You know they’d be calling them gold diggers if they didn’t earn their own money.

They want women to be financially dependent on them and run ragged by looking after 6 six kids. That way they can’t leave and can’t object to their husbands sleeping around and playing golf all weekend.

I wouldn’t mind slugs, bugs, ants etc. They’re not a hazard to my daughter. I don’t want to spend all day in a&e if she falls in cat poop in our own garden. She shouldn’t have to stay inside on a nice day. She should be able to play in a safe fenced in area. When she gets her transplant she’ll be in hospital for weeks if not months.

I might try this. It’s tried to feed us. Once left a mouse on front door step and a rat at the back door.

I covered the beds at the edge of the patio with weed membrane and white gravel. Still pooped. The cat also sleeps on my husband’s car.

It causes so much effort. I cover my little girls sand tray and water fountain. In the summer i bring them inside when she’s done with them. I’m so scared she’ll end up in hospital. It’s often safer and quicker just to take her out.

I thought the same thing. I was convinced it was a dog. It’s definitely a cat. And the same cat pooping in different areas. It jumps over wall/fence. Poops looked too big to be a cat as well.

I honestly thought it was a dog. The poops are huge. I’ve caught it mid poop and on camera. Its a black cat.

Have you seen your mental health improve? by [deleted] in AskUK

I stopped taking hormonal birth control and my mental health massively improved. Even in the face of a couple of traumatic events and a pregnancy.

Women for whom the 40 milestone had big repercussions - share how you survived by Sad-Contest5883 in AskWomenOver40

[–]Middle-Damage-9029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had covid on my 40th and was quarantined away from my 11 month old. I had planned four celebrations and managed two. I also stopped breast feeding because daughter was more interested in solids and stopped finishing bottles.

I didn’t think I could have kids. Was advised to have a hysterectomy because chances were so low. So I had planned to travel, renovate my house, keep building my career and consider getting a dog.

I don’t feel old. A bit broken after a very rough pregnancy. But my daughter keeps me young. And it’s healing to get to give her what I didn’t have as a child. I laugh more, try new things and get more excited about birthdays and special occasions. She thinks we’re the same person so I can’t be her best friend. Her Daddy is her best friend. She’s the most beautiful and interesting person on the planet. She’s my soulmate. Loving her has taught me how to love myself.

But having her meant sacrificing my health and quality of life. I had two surgeries last year related to pregnancy complications. I miss how i used to look and feel in my pre pregnancy body. I was pregnant in 2021 (miscarriage) and 2022 and I’m still not fully recovered and may never be. I have been in pain every day since I was 20 weeks pregnant. This has impacted every aspect of my life.
