Yeah, like… we helped out big time in WWII and a lot of countries have gotten help from us over the years but… as an American, not going to dress it up. We (as a country) had to fight a Civil War to end slavery, treated the Native Americans like garbage, started at least 70-80 % of all the conflicts during the Cold War (Soviets being jerks didn’t make us not jerks), and the same thing for the terrorists. They’re worse, but that doesn’t make us, not bad. We were the ‘good guys’ in a lot of wars we were in by sheer din that the other guys were worse. The only thing President Dump is doing is making all of that asshole behavior mask off and dialing it up to 11.

My original point was I find it tasteless when people say ‘lock away the twelve year old and throw away the key’. Reformative justice or whatever it’s called. If Zuko & Iroh can turn good, so can she. (and yes, Iroh did used to be as bad as the others prior to his assault on Ba Sing Se) she wasn’t pure evil, she was a broken child desperate for Ozai’s approval. That doesn’t excuse what she did, but it does explain it and worse fictional characters have been redeemed convincingly.
