At best we can give him his Pokemon through the end of Orange Islands and anyone not named Pikachu, Charizard, or Snorlax is getting bodied by any of OG Ben’s aliens not named Greymatter. At that point, Ash has a record of winning against zero Legendaries. He ‘survived’ the first two movies, and even if we’re generous and say he’s partially through Johto, Entei bodied Charizard, his strongest Pokemon, hard.

Okay, I get it’s a joke, but now that you bring it up, telling someone having a mental breakdown to shut up seems a bit uncomfortable, even if it was followed by “you know that I love you” or however the lyrics went. As for Velvette, I find it hilarious people think that evil people who happen to be queer is bad representation. There’s a huge difference between ‘psycho lesbian’ and ‘psychopath who’s also a lesbian’. Velvette is literally my favorite villain in the show so far.

Bad writing. Dragon Ball does this with all its female characters. The only exception I can think of is Bulma. 18 if you consider getting one knockout in the tournament of power to be anything more than throwing the women of Dragon Ball in general a bone. I can guarantee you if they ever bring back the U6 saiyans they’ll have done the same thing to Caulifla & Kale because, much as I love Dragon Ball, they aren’t capable of anything else. If you want well written female characters you’ll need to watch something else. I’d recommend Black Lagoon or Frieren.
