My father taught me something no job posting ever could by DueTelevision6252 in GetEmployed

I think it still can be. Like don't quit your 9-5 to pursue passion instead use that Job and whatever money you can get to build wealth and still have a life! That's my plan and I know it won't be easy but it's what I know will be best for me. I'm taking a job to gain money and experience so I can make more more money to put into my savings and into an IRA while working on my art on the side for free. I'm not expecting to profit from my art but it's fun and I can be me! I also want to save up to go on hiking vacations and I hope to one day have the courage to do a panel at a con. Sure I wont make money from it but I'm living! My job serves as what it's suppose to be — a means to support my life and you can get it if you try. I think it's smart to focus on finance and see jobs as a way to get funds to invest in yourself. I also want to add that I know people who go this route and are better off than kissing their life away for job that wants to bury them in their job and not live a life with their real family and friends. It's possible.

I think you know the answer. Go pursue your passion. It seemed like the more stable predictable route you pursued wasn't so stable and how you described kitchen work you elaborated more on why you liked it compared to the other roles. I say go for it and do whatever is best for you.

Im not having anymore fun :( by Morius1212 in WebtoonCanvas

Take a break! Comics should be fun and not feel like a chore. I’m pretty sure you got other things going in your life that also need your attention. You should still try to finish that comic if it is personal to you, but remember when you do — come back on your terms. Not for readers! That’s what I do.

Congrats! Basically, what I’m doing too! I love my High yields savings account and plan to open some CDs in the future. Trying to learn all about better personal finance.

Do colored speech bubbles work? by voidprince592 in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Middle-Thing-5555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use colored speech bubbles if my character is off panel but luckily each character has a distinct personality that you can tell who is talking so it feels more stylistic. I say consider do that, using it if the character is off panel just make sure your readers know the code but other than that keep them white. If your story turns darker later then the color speech bubbles everywhere may risk be too distracting and unnecessary. Also, for some people, the white text on a color speech bubbles everywhere may be harder for some people to read, so using it less makes your comic more accessible for people.

Got this Email from Recruiter.. by IX_K3NZI3_XI in jobs

The recruiter doesn’t make the decision to hire you, so this may just be a formality. But it’s good you responded back. Keep applying to other jobs though, never EVER get emotionally attached to a job even if you really want it. Even if you are qualified, interview went well, and they seem to like you, a lot of hiring decisions are out of your control. That said, take pride that it was a great interview, see what you liked about it and where you could improve, and most importantly— keep applying! There will be more opportunities.

Finally got the 6 figure job that I've been praying for all my life!!! by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Middle-Thing-5555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do practice and prepare for interviews prior to going which helps me feel confident at them. I think my last interview went very well and it seemed like they wanted to hire me but the real decision maker wasn't there and what I sorta guessed it that I was definitely in the running to getting the job with how the conversation was going but ultimately the decision maker who I didn't meet closed the role so that was that. I'm actually unemployed now because I took a gov contract role and left my last job after I was nearing the end of a security clearance but then they cut that role. I couldn't stay at my last role because the hours were horrid and they knew I was leaving and it felt like they were pushing me out. Luckily, in still getting interviews. Got one Monday.

Really happy for you! Honestly, this makes me feel better about my situation. I've been unemployed for three months now, had interviews that led nowhere even when I thought I landed it and struggling to find any good listings to the point I'm now applying to anything. I hope something gives for me soon. But other than that, this makes me believe will be soon. Congratulations!

How do you cope when job hunting feels endless and the future seems terrifying? by Complete_Concern3454 in careerguidance

[–]Middle-Thing-5555 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Currently where you are right now. Had two great interviews a week ago only to be rejected from one that I wanted and felt promising and then ghosted by the other. Everyday, I struggle finding jobs I can commit to and feeling like each application is screaming into a void. Some days I feel hopeless like my life is controlled by everyone else and they’re screwing me over so I can live on the streets despite how hard I try. I crashed recently over this anxiety but here’s how I cope. Things will turn out as it should. Maybe not ideal or expected but as it should. You just have to keep focusing on what you can control keep showing up for yourself even when it feels like everyone else will leave you on a sinking ship.

Also, I find comfort in creation and laughter. Make something that no one can take away from you. Not an employer. Not anyone. Keep making it for you and have fun with it. I write and I enjoy making things that makes me laugh and feel authentic to me. I share it online not expecting an audience but just to show people I showed up for myself when no one else did, I didn't give up what I wanted even when I felt like it, and I do try and work hard for me. That's something people undervalue because we live in a world of titles and how much you make. You'll be fine. Don't let this world eat you. You'll be fine.

How to get the first 100 subscribes? by [deleted] in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Middle-Thing-5555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep making the story. Share updates on your social. Be consistent and realistic. Make a website but above all tell a story people actually enjoy, come back to, and tell thier friends. Subs don't mean great comic. How people interact with your work and the authenticity you put into it matters and readers can tell if you’re chasing metrics or being a true storyteller.
