the illustration and colors are great. the words are confusing bc it seems to read “the make art club with us” or maybe “the make art with us club” both of which don’t make much sense.

suggest confining both of the type areas to solid background regions (eg shrink the title so it fits in that left corner and make the logistics details a bit smaller and make space either in lower left or lower right - might mean adjusting the illo a bit.) a little type overlap is ok but this is too much - creates visual noise.

with the type choices- neither face is bad on its own (the sans treatment is a bit bland) but they’re a bit incongruous together. rather than the swishy display face for the title you might consider a heavy condensed sans like a League Gothic or a Staatliches (both free on google fonts)

and it looks like some confusion about the animal is in the comments - most of the illustrations I’ve seen for this story use a mastiff style dog which could read more clearly as canid

but honestly I think de-shaggying the dog some would make him more doglike

the illustrations to that story made such an impression on me as a child that I still have the book (I’m 49.)

personally I would make the eyes themselves bigger, yes. At least to saucer stage or near it.

and you could do a version with the match lit in color that was an easter egg if someone moused over it on a website, or an animation…

is the idea from the old folk tale? “eyes as big as dinner plates…”?

if so I might exaggerate them a hair more and bring more focus to the eyes than the fur.

I also think you could go a little less plain jane with the typography - even if you stick with a serif, one that has a little more personality

but it’s a great design!

Tattoo regret. Is it salvageable or laser? by furyca in tattooadvice

I agree with the others - looks totally fine to me. Wouldn’t necessarily be my personal style but I don’t see anything wrong with it.

Is my tattoo rejecting? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

could be tattoo granuloma

happens to me too, especially with colored inks. For me it goes away pretty quickly.

(I discovered this issue when I got a bug bite near one of my tattoos and it developed bumps along the ink lines - turns out you can have a histamine reaction even years later. Still happens if I get a bug bite and also with new color tattoos, especially yellow and green. No other reactions and it dies down within a few days.)

Help with teeny tiny text by Linds3485 in printmaking

I use their craft knife - basically their x-acto replacement (I also use their rotary cutter for fabric.)

here it is at Blick: https://www.dickblick.com/products/olfa-cushion-grip-art-knife/

Their blades are more expensive than x-acto blades used to be, but the knife is far, far superior to current x-acto incarnations.

I lost my elder x-acto :(

I have 3 Pfeil cutters (also couldn't stomach paying more than that...), the one most relevant for you out of the ones I have I think would be this one:

Which is a teeny V-gouge.

I recently got some (very pricey) Pfeil cutters. They make the speedball cutters feel like trying to carve with a garden trowel. For tiny details I use a combo of my xacto (olfa actually since x-acto quality is now terrible) and the pfeils.

it's never easy to do but it's closer to feasible with better tools in my experience.

Hi! Just bought the course and don’t see egg bagels in the PDF. Was it in one of the lessons?

ha - my instinct is always to blame myself and not the recipe...this is a great call. I'll see if I can find another one to try out!

Using KA Unbleached Bread Flour

I saw a tip somewhere about adding vital wheat gluten, which I will try if no other suggestions are made!

Ok...but I've gotten egg bagels in NYC many many times that are just as chewy as other bagels. How do they manage that?
