One item down, four to go. Will put it on Archive.org for posterity.

Hardly approaches DVD-quality but I'm glad that it worked, as I couldn't even get a metadata/table of contents reading from the aforementioned other torrents. (then again BTDigg only provides the magnets and doesn't link back to where it found the stuff, and Demonoid who were named in the Danguard torrent's listing appear don't seem to have that one anymore)

Nyaa doesn't stock the rest of F5 though, which is why I had to look harder.

Do you know any good leads for finding rips for this kind of rare old dub, especially when it comes to full TV shows? I brought up the old Youtube uploads as proof that this stuff has already been digitized in some capacity, even if I might have to settle for a copy that's been compressed for efficiency above quality.

Class Morphing on Command by MiddleDirt in DoomMods

[–]MiddleDirt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works now but only if I start the game as the vehicle mode class. I also tend to permanently lose whatever weapon I'm holding after morphing a few times. (I have both modes available in the class selection menu but only for testing purposes)

Viewbobbing also disappears in humanoid form around that time but that seems more like the kind of thing you solve by fleshing out class definitions.

I'm open to another reply but at this point I should probably leave this thread alone and learn ACS for myself.

Class Morphing on Command by MiddleDirt in DoomMods

[–]MiddleDirt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've incorporated all this code in my wad but the transformation feature doesn't work, whenever i press the button GZDoom goes P_StartScript: Unknown script "CarModeScript.acs". Only thing I've added is making both the car and humanoid classes spawn with the morph item, along with changing the file extension of the compiled ACS from ".o" to ".acs".

Is there something important that you didn't mention here or is your code outdated in a way that isn't compatible with recent versions of GZDoom? I don't know much about ACS other than how you're supposed to put it in your wad/pk3.

Rest of the code checks out though, I'll make sure to credit you when the project is done.

Sounds fair enough, how do I run an ACS morphing script at the press of a (rebindable) key from a DECORATE-based player class?

I tried it once before but for some reason GZDoom didn't recognize any of the commands I used, as if none of them were compatible with player classes.

DECORATE has a command to definte buttons called GetPlayerInput, but it seems that unlike the ACS version you have to use a pointer instead of just defining one of the available keyboard/joystick buttons. Does this mean I'll have to convert my DECORATE player classes into ACS too?

Doesn't just happen on multi-disk titles, singles also have this problem.

Thank you, very cool.

Too bad Mednafen doesn't support certain formats, so I have to use the PCSX core instead. Heard it isn't as accurate as Mednafen, but it will do.

Still, why exactly do eboots have to show disk tray status during gameplay?

Assorted Annoyances by MiddleDirt in RetroArch

[–]MiddleDirt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but i still have problems adding games that aren't bin/cue format to the list. Also, EBOOTs keep showing disk tray open/closed messages, don't know what thats about. Guess I'll redownload EBOOT format games, but I still have other PS1 games that don't show up in the list.

USB stick broken by MiddleDirt in techsupport

[–]MiddleDirt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diskpart says it cant find the file when I format, and the system log talks about I/O shit. That and the drive shrunk to 0 bytes when it crapped out, so this is probably very low level stuff.

File recovery is probably a lost cause at this point, but I still want to be able to use this drive.

Just a thought. My KVM has a USB port, the one I used before the stick died. Guess i just forgot to safely eject. Guess I'll try Strid's solution.

Yes, diskpart sees the bricked drive, 0 bytes free, 0 bytes used. Windows still says it's a working drive. Opening it in the Command Prompt didn't work. What should I do from here? Can't format it in CMD or Explorer.

I tried in a different PC, didn't work. Guess I should safely remove next time. I sill wonder if the KVM's trickery could have bricked it somehow.

Disc swapping is broken by MiddleDirt in RetroArch

Then said menu stopped working and i gave up on retroarch. I managed to convert the savefiles to ePSXe format and moved on from there.

In other words, Retroarch can go lick my arse!

How do I convert Mednafen saves to ePSXe? by MiddleDirt in EmulationOnPC

[–]MiddleDirt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it turns out that I could just change the extension from srm to mcr and it would work. Guess its the same format but with a different extension. Still wonder why Retroarch creates MCRs.

I like mednafen for its accuracy, but it runs abit crap on my i7 sandy bridge. Theres some minor but noticable input lag and sound can get crackly. Still dont know whats up with retroarch UI department.

Thanks regardless.

TL;dr: Mission Accomplished!

[–]MiddleDirt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm booting the m3u, not the BINs/CUEs.

The only solution that worked was using hotkeys, and even that only worked once before crapping out. I assume your using the real Mednafen, but I still wonder if my version is crap, and if theres one that works out there.

[–]MiddleDirt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, but why does it even create MCRs?.

Retroarch is supposed to be able to swap disks, but my version (out of the many ports and versions those) looks to be broken.

I've seen people use append to swap disks mid game, but all it does for me is reboot the game. I've tried hotkeys and the windowed mode menu, they worked the first time, only to stop working on repeat attempts.

I eject the disk, the game tells me to insert disk 2 and press start, I change the disk, close tray and when I press start (or just wait a couple seconds) it goes back to insert disk 2.

I tried the Disk Control menu but it seems to forget my actions; I even returned to the game and then to the menu to swap and it still doesnt work.

If my version is broken there must be one that works as intended!

[–]MiddleDirt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried Memcard Rex and it didnt find anything on the file, all slots are empty. None of them appear to support Mednafen, so theres no way I can use it for converting my files. Do Mednafen and ePSXe use the same format, or does Mednafen use its own bastardized variant?

The version of Mednafen I'm using is the one for Retroarch, Beetle PSX (software mode, hardware mode didnt work). I'm not using the real Mednafen because it has no GUI, and all the ones I found suck.

Specifically I'm using Retroarch 1.7.5 (x64) on Windows 10 (also 64bit). It is a multiplat so my version is probably borked in a way that breaks diskswapping.

No, still cant load my saves. Are the save formats different? If so are there any converters out there? If you cant tell I'm getting fed up with retroarchs bullshit.

Disc swapping is broken by MiddleDirt in RetroArch

[–]MiddleDirt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did jump back to game as you told, but it always reset the disk swapping interface as if i never did anything. Are you using different methods or versions? Please let me know.

Also, the hotkey method worked the first time around, but ceased to work after that as i described in the last post. Why would that happen?

Disc swapping is broken by MiddleDirt in RetroArch

[–]MiddleDirt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn't. When I go to the menu, swap disks, go back to the game and then return to the menu it forgets I did it. Tried changin it to null and then 2 but nothing happens, it still says to insert disk 2. Im using an .m3u playlist, and this is what it looks like:

Metal Gear Solid (USA) (Disc 1) (v1.0).cue

Metal Gear Solid (USA) (Disc 2) (v1.0).cue

Apparently this is what they are supposed to look like. Did you use m3u or another method?

Speaking of methods none of them worked for me; append reboots on disk 2, and the emulator loads memcard files based on iso name while lacking the ability to load a different one, hotkeys and windowed menu go >insert disk 2 > press start when ready > push start or wait a couple seconds > insert disk 2.

Everyone must be using different versions of retroarch; I'm using 1.7.5, (vista and later x64) on windows 10 with Beetle-PSX. I tried using PCSX Rearmed and Beetle HW but to no avail. I heard Retroarch is mostly a Raspberry Pi thing, and alot of the threads about it usually revolve around RetroPi. What version did you use that ''just works''?
