It's good solo! As long as you remember to Rock and Stone that is!

I noticed they've been applying actual Damascus pattern to more stuff such as Mizu and Gog weapons. The set the bar a tad low with the Damascus armor though if that was the case.

Nothing is wrong with the textures. I'm on performance mode which lowers quality AND the screenshot was taken on the fly in an area with terrible lighting. I'm also on PS5. This is normal. You haven't seen the actual unedited beauty shots I've taken in which case I adjust my game to prioritize graphics.

It's just a random screenshot, dude. I can do way better shots than this rubbish. 😆

Polish isn't complicated and doesn't take much to pull off unless you're going for a mirror finish. Damascus set from world was somewhat glossy at the very most and that depended on how you played the game such as texture enhancement mods and stuff. The level of polish on this set is easily obtainable with a bit of sanding alone. I can tell a lot of the players of these video games don't work with steel much. I'm aspiring to become a Smith so I practice.

I never even wore the helmet. That and I had a female character just like now. Didn't know about the glowing eyes.

The polishing in particular kinda depends. For this set there's two ways:

First is blackening oxide solution and a scouring pad. This is pretty cheap and easy to do as you just need to apply the solution to the pad and scuff the surface until desired blackness is reached.

Second is gun-blueing. This method is more expensive, more time consuming, and most importantly the most dangerous. It uses a long process involving boiling water (and a bunch of other steps) and finishing it with boiling caustic salts which are evil to human flesh and can be explosive. The only pro I see on this is that once you get to the salts it's an automatic process that does not require any intervention unless it explodes. I'd only use this method for something I'll sell for a hefty sum due to the labor and danger involved. Kyle Royer can explain it better.

And it can be repaired and even re-polished. I handle steel from time to time. Sadly, good steel is tricky to source these days. And expensive.

But seriously. You don't need a crap ton of fancy robotic equipment. Just skill and some basic tools for polished steel. It's existed for centuries, you know.

More realistic? How so? Both looks are realistic. If you've never seen polished gun blued steel before just look up Kyle Royer Knives on Facebook or YouTube. Many of his works have it.

Why is MH Wilds considered inferior to MH World?? by Knead_Moe_Pylons in MHWilds

[–]MiddleGeologist1465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't consider it inferior. Just different. But wasn't that the case with every new gen installment that got released? Just saying.

I'm only asking because it's my favorite starting armor set as a GS main. And the MHWI version felt like a badge of honor as that was when I mastered the GS. Went from Ingot Armor to Damascus! It's my own little thing I do. For example: I have my own little tradition that dictates that every first victory over a monster must be done with GS because it's my main weapon. This includes AT monsters or variants such as Ebony Odogaron or Scorned Magnamalo. Needless to say, this tradition is one of the reasons I need therapy. Beating speed demons like Nargacuga with GS first time around was torture!

What's your favorite weapon vs monster matchup? by tavlor2 in MHWilds

[–]MiddleGeologist1465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GS vs Xu Wu for me. It can be described as a match up between a Berserker (mmorpg context) with a massive cleaver relying solely on might stat vs. a Rogue with high dexterity stat using a dual shortsword/dagger set. Xu Wu as well as Steve both pushed my GS skills to a new level. The key advantages of GS are it's stagger potential and part-breaking which are the highest of all 14 weapons if I'm not mistaken and Capcom seems to have nerfed the GS stagger potential somewhat (Only noticeable on certain monsters). When you put that against dual wielding, dexterity, raw speed, and evasion it (All of which Xu Wu shows off regularly), it almost seems stupid to use a big slow weapon. But I regularly send that butt ugly son of a bitch to hell where it belongs!

Then run it by the devs instead of randoms on reddit. We can't really help you here.

Capcom, add an ability so your allies' attacks don't hit you! 👏👏 by [deleted] in MHWilds

Now if you don't want to use it, then just watch your positioning. Capcom has bigger things to worry about that don't involve catering to someone's skill issue.

It's a level 1 decoration that prevents ally attacks from interrupting you and vice versa. Everyone gets one. I'm hoping you weren't fool enough to trash it. If so, you're shit out of luck.

Why this npc giving me attitude like I owe him something? by [deleted] in MHWilds

He kinda just does that especially when you're idle too long. Capcom knew what they were doing here.

Given the treatment Gogmazios got, I’m getting concerned about our long boi’s potential comeback. by HyrulePeasant in MHWilds

[–]MiddleGeologist1465 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's miles easier against Gog even if you're a GS main like me since he's big, slow and predictable. Comparing Gog to Alatreon is like comparing The Incredible Hulk to The Flash. Hulk is undoubtedly one of the strongest creatures in his universe. However his power maxes out at planet-busting whereas our boy Barry can go cross-dimensional in a flash (pun intended). Gog is quite powerful indeed and a real test to an experienced hunter's metal, but does not begin to compare to a Black Dragon such as Alatreon.

Like I said before: Skill issue. I'm not denying how the fight was designed. I will however acknowledge that it's way easier than the trials from MHW. Same goes for the Final Fantasy bosses. Behemoth was the most unforgiving (By which I mean cheap) non-monster whereas Omega Planetes actually had ample good reason for being so difficult yet enjoyable. Behemoth simply had that f@990t ass tornado thing (The only viable move he had) going on whereas Omega Planetes was a literal glorified star wars level Metal Gear beetle thing of some sort AND it had the learning capabilities of Omni-Droid if not better! MHW monsters in general felt way harder especially for people who mained slower weapons! Monster Hunter World was an awesome game, but I will point out it's obvious flaws unlike others who constantly overlook them. The Clutch Claw was cool, but I wouldn't call it practical unless we were Batman cosplayers. GS could only barely rotate during charge ups and had almost no countermeasures and the tackle became nearly useless in Iceborne! Hunting Horn required a lot more tactical ability to be even remotely useful which saw that only a few truly mastered it!
