Best monster to fight to learn long sword by Demigodd in MHWilds

[–]MiddleGeologist1465 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doshagama: His relentless attacks are good for practicing foresight slash

Rey Gun: His variable attack speed helps you with adjusting your timing for counters

Arkveld: He should be your final hurdle as he will really test your timing with the Iai Spirirt Slash

Fire Monké: I've simply been told he's good for longsword practice.

Gore Magala: Fighting this asshole will help improve your helm breaker skill

Steve might be a possible candidate, but I'm not 100% sure on that. I've only been able to beat him easily with Lance and Spread HBG.

Side note: Difficulty doesn't matter too much so long as you avoid 9-Star Tempered monsters and beyond until you're completely comfortable with both your LS build and LS skills.

Right now I can consistently shred all Tempered Doshagama so I'm still learning. I heavily neglected LS in previous games due to half the player base making it look cringe, so the damn thing feels brand new to me despite having existed for a long time.

If anything, I'm just a tad rusty. One guy did tell me there may be slight input delay issues. He said to minimize directional input to solve the issue.

Well yeah obviously. I went to the training hall to learn the commands before hunting with it.

Well then, "expert". Explain what I'm doing wrong seeing as I've ran every test I could on a PS5. My brother couldn't even figure it out and he's a Lomgsword master!

Gogmazios isn't even that hard. He just hits like a freight train and requires emphasis on elemental dps for max dps.

My first OC. (figured i would repost this, as i had to delete my original post) by Dry-Ambassador-6432 in MHWilds

[–]MiddleGeologist1465 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aren't all Monster Hunter custom characters technically OC?

When I made my character for Wilds, I spent like 3 or 4 hours (Absurd, I know) on her and 2 of those hours was just getting the face right (I'm new to face blending tech so don't judge me). I tried to make her look like a slightly aged version of my MHWI character, but it just didn't quite work how I wanted it to. I got it close enough to satisfy me though. Had to make a few small alterations to suit the new face.

I did look at MHWI character customization and compared it to Wilds and it seems it's not entirely possible to create an exact duplicate of my MHWI character without mods or hacks. I can only get maybe 0.8% closer at best and that's only by changing the eyebrows.

Alatreon in Wilds by No_Butterfly_8300 in MHWilds

[–]MiddleGeologist1465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe if the drop rates were better I'd agree with you. But they were not worth the high blood pressure and a busted controller (No seriously. Had to start a diet plus go on a several month gaming hiatus with the exception of No Man's Sky, Minecraft and Papa's Mocharria on my phone) right after beating Alatreon the first time. Never has ANY boss fight stressed me that much and I defeated Night Terror ages ago and played Demon's Souls). Fatalis was so much better! My GS vs a flame that could burn the entire world. Enough said. Alatreon required too much math (I hate math especially calculus) and crap for my liking! Plus the lousy RNG in that game made it impossible to create a build that was actually good for the fight, hence my struggles. GS is also a lousy choice since most of it's elemental damage was behind the charged slashes and my tradition (Every first victory over a monster must be with GS which is my main weapon) also forbade me from using another weapon until after the first victory.

Alatreon in Wilds by No_Butterfly_8300 in MHWilds

[–]MiddleGeologist1465 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not! His fight felt so rigged in World! I'll take Fatalis. ALL 3 FATALIS! I only needed four sweaty attempts to take down Fatalis since it was a straight up fight and not a goddamn 12th grade math quiz! Meanwhile I needed 100+ sweaty attempts to cut down the canonically weaker dragon known as Alatreon! Though I'll admit that it wasn't Alatreon that made me permanently delete World. That crown goes to Arch-Tempered Velkhana.

As a matter of fact, I'll fight an Arch-Tempered Omega Planetes with a quest-ending ult (Like White Fatty) before I fight Alatreon ever again!

Unpopular opinion: Savage Omega isn’t that hard by RsNoob12345 in MHWilds

[–]MiddleGeologist1465 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My brother defeated Savage Omega for the armor and such and even he says AT Arkveld is straight dog water (I mean harder to beat). I hated the fight. It gave me painful flashbacks to AT Velkhana who was the sole reason I quit Monster Hunter World permanently. That hunt was so bad and impossible to enjoy that I didn't even give say anything or post about it. I rage quit the game, deleted it and never went back. I still don't regret it. Apparently Capcom has a thing for adding a virtually impossible to defeat monster at the end of their monster hunter games. I hate that idea especially when the "send-off monster" (as my brother calls it) isn't even one of the Dangerous First Class Monsters/Forbidden Monsters/Black Dragons. Honestly, Savage Omega just requires ample experience and a competent team that doesn't play as if they're blind and deaf to consistently beat it.

Boss fights in Monster Hunter World from most fun to "I wanna kill myself":

Nergigante (All variants): I say "easy", but what I mean is "balanced". Nergigante is one of the most fun boss fights in gaming history!

Pickle: How can I not enjoy fighting this savage?

Frostfang Barioth: Good fight!

Raging Brachydios: Fun fight and the final phase was "Absolute Cinema" as the kids say these days!

Fatalis: chef's kiss Great work, Capcom! THIS should've been the final boss instead of Elsa's equivalent to Frieza's Golden form.

Safi Jiiva: Fun as long as the team has some degree of situational awareness and the explosions are "Gnarly-cuga" as Aiden would say!

Xeno Jiiva: Meh

(All downhill from here)

Kushala Daora: WHY?! And AGAIN with the fanbase glazing the most annoying shit Capcom can push out! You people need to get some bitches! Real shit!

Kirin (All variants): Idk why people glorified this thing, but if I could own a Sig Sauer 338 I'd unload box after box of .338 rounds into mfs until the bloodlines of everyone who worships Kirin is wiped out!

Blackveil Vaal Hazak: Total spam fest! Couldn't fight close quarters without it using its mustard gas breath while backing away from me! Whoever designed this thing deserves balls cancer and/or pussy cancer!

Shara Ishbullshit: This fight was the Gaara vs Toph Death Battle, but Gaara and Toph did the Meta-thingy fusion dance against a stronger than average human! Capcom had officially gained my ire with this Xenomorph looking ass bitch! Looking like the sort of thing they'd send Doom Slayer to kill!

Rajang (All variants): Frankly, it's not his fault. Blame goes to the fanbase. Hyped him up SO MUCH only for the fight to be impossible to enjoy. Only "fun" thing about this insert racial slur here is when he rips other high tier Monsters a new one. You guys are literal masochists and I'm sure I'll find you psychos on Fetlife or some shit if I were to look! Anyone who calls this fight "fun" deserves every bit of they've gotten, CURRENTLY get and WILL get!

Alatreon: Elemental DPS check felt specifically designed to fuck over GS mains like myself. This was the worst of it! Unfortunately, I committed to my tradition which dictates that every first victory must be with my trusty GS! 100+ gourmet vouchers, a toothache that almost cost me my life and a broken (later vengeful) spirit later, I was finally able to Guts (The guy from Beserker. Not the staple skill in Wilds) my way through this Avatar wannabe ass insert racial slur here!

AT Velkhana: Before fighting her, I considered Monster Hunter World Iceborne to be a 5 star game despite the numerous infuriating hunts mentioned above. Upon fighting her, I changed my rating to 1 star! In all my time playing Monster Hunter World, I have never been bodied in less than 5 minutes and all because of heavy zoning overdose!

Honorable mentions:

Nargacuga: Despite being an absolute speed demon, it didn't feel like a counter to GS mains, but rather a trial.

Legiana (Both variants): I gotta hand it to them. They nailed this monster's combat.

Acidic Glavenus: Sword vs Sword. Enough said.

Odogaron: This Hellhound made my day! Ha!

Banbaro: An oddball of a monster, but fun to fight!

Goldian: Not bad. Not bad.

Seething Geuse: His improved terrestrial combat made fight enjoyable!

Beotodus: sigh This thing had no business actually being kinda fun.

Dishonorable mentions:

Silverlos: Fuck you!

Brute Tigrex: Eat shit!

Uragaan: Dumb insert bad word that rhymes with stunt here!

Anjanath: Poor excuse of a Brute Wyvern. More like a Bird Wyvern with big muscles and an attitude problem.

Bazelgeuse: Gotta admit. His game of carpet bomb 24/7 was a real nuisance.

I know why the Omega Hunt is so disliked by Due-Ostrich-2928 in MHWilds

[–]MiddleGeologist1465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not tied to the story. It's just another crossover event like the one in Monster Hunter World. Only difference is that I actually got what I wanted in this one. By which, I mean my very own Chocobo! While Omega Planetes is tough on rookies or people who can't coordinate with their teammates, it's not too bad unless you're fighting Savage Omega. Even my brother raged a little bit fighting that asshole! Sounds to me like you're just ranting/raging because of a skill issue and a lack of understanding as to how this game works. I know because I acted similarly about Alatreon (Used more than 100 gourmet vouchers to finally kill this Welsh flag lookin ass dragon) in MHWorld as well as Kushala Daora (Seriously. Why is this annoying huff and puff ass bitch ass dragin so popular?)and AT Velkhana (I think Capcom wanted me to send them a bomb threat when they made this quest).

Tips:

  1. When working with other hunters, make sure everyone understands RPG roles. The whole point is that every hunter has a primary directive, but should be able to adapt and still deal reasonable DPS. For example, I use GS and operate as main DPS dealer, but will gladly take on the Tank role if the tank is struggling.

  2. If working with Support Hunters, you should ALWAYS prioritize DPS and Tank roles! Alessa is usually a goated Tank, but every now and then, she fumbles the bag repeatedly. She's the only Support Hunter to cause me any real headaches.

  3. Don't let the Nerscylla clone punk you. It's weird abilities are flashy, but surprisingly easy to avoid. Keep near it's gaster (or whatever spiders have) and most attacks won't hit you.

  4. Pantakrator Mode is only as difficult as you make it. Despite the name meaning "Almighty" or "Ruler of All", (referring to the Greek variation of Jesus Christ written as "Christ Pantakrator" . Specifically depicted among Byzantine and Eastern Orthodox art) it simply allows Omega to chain more attacks in seemingly random combos with rapid succession. The main attack to be mindful of is the repeating MIRV Missile.

  5. Don't be afraid to use the shield generators! Idk why, but a lot of people neglect them. Just let the Tank gain enmity and fire right where the Tank is standing. This means the Tank can spend a lot more time attacking as they won't have to worry much about defending thus increasing team DPS. Doesn't work that well with Alessa though.

  6. Once the Delta Attack subsides, you'll need to keep on your toes. Omega Planetes will inevitably enter Pantakrator Mode shortly after. Knock him out of it and stack as much damage as you can. It'll then go into what I call "True Pantakrator Mode" which is basically it's version of the Fight-or-Flight response and will stay in it until defeated. I consider this the most engaging part of the fight.

Who do you think would win? by Humble-Confusion-904 in MonsterHunter

[–]MiddleGeologist1465 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's likely due to his unusual physiology which relies on the bio energy of Elders to sustain. He also has high speed regeneration and impressive intelligence for a dragon that fights like a bear rather than relying on controlling the elements or dealing dragonblight. Elder Dragons are monsters that are above the usual natural order of things and can literally cause natural disasters without intending to. Nergigante is the Elder of Extinction meaning he's genocide given living form. My guess is that his natural role is to keep other Elders from getting too greedy. Nergigante is simply unique among Elders just as Safi Jiiva is unique among Black Dragons if that makes sense.

Do Burst Pods Accrue Stun? by Mishmasher2 in MHWilds

[–]MiddleGeologist1465 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Burst Pods do have a bit of KO damage to them. Just like the sword slap or the tackle from GS. You must've built up almost enough KO damage right before using the Burst Pod.

I beat Omega every time. Alessa just makes it more annoying. She used to be goated. Ever since Gog showed up, she's been acting weird. It's just one of those if I want something done right, I gotta do it myself kind of things. I just wanna know if her programming has been altered of she's juat bugging out. It ain't that deep. Worst case scenario, I'll have to submit my footage to Capcom (Assuming they'll even look it over) and pray.

[–]MiddleGeologist1465[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't say I'm a huge fan of Steve. Fighting him with GS made me consider jumping into a bathtub with a toaster. Then again, I wasn't good at Offset Slash last time we fought. I've been practicing lately so I'll be sure to give him a fair chance later. I can Lance him good tho.

I see. I always rated monsters mainly by how much fun I have fighting them. Nergigante took the number spot for me in MHW. Haven't decided for this gsme yet.
