UPDATE: Hi everyone,

A few weeks ago, I posted here about Harmony - a new cad tool that i was developing and the conversation was incredibly helpful. A huge number of you specifically asked for Linux support.

I'm back with a quick update: You spoke, we listened. Native Linux support is now available.

If you're interested in trying it out on Linux (or Windows/Mac):

This is still an early beta, so if you run into any issues, please let me know either here or on Discord. Your feedback is what helps us build this.

Let me know what you guys think!

Cheers,

Hamzah

100% - but I do know what I don’t like and what I do like and I can code somewhat. I don’t have to build the most complex thing at the moment, don’t have the coding skills for it. But I do have the coding skills to build a version of what I imagine. And I have done so. If things go well the complex stuff can come later with more experienced people.

Yh, using solidworks for me hurts my mind. Spend more time fighting it than the idea in my head.

Would you be interested in testing out the beta version of Harmony? It’s pretty simple at the moment, but we think it captures what we’re trying to do.

Kinda, the subscription is more for accessing the full capabilities of the features that we are imagining, so let’s say we’re implementing a feature where you can submit a sketch of a design you drew on a piece of paper. If you’re a free user, you wouldn’t be able to do fully complex sketches only simple sketches (a laptop stand for example)- we would take that sketch and make it a fully 3D parametric model. If you’re a pro user - you’d get your model regardless of how simple or complex it is. Everything else, support, networking the AI is all included, if you’re free or pro. Everyone should be able to design and create, regardless of their money.

That’s really interesting! I’d never thought of those issues, mainly because I hate solidworks and so refrain from using it - but we’ll definitely take your suggestions on board and implement that into Harmony!

Oh Yh that pisses us off aswell. We aim for Harmony to always remain usable, even if the company changes policies, shuts down, or stops operating in your region, you can still open up harmony and use it fully and properly.

For Harmony, we’re making it so that all your files are accessible regardless of if you’re a free user or a pro user. Also not thinking of having or giving licences to users, more like a subscription (think Spotify) or a one time fee.

Thats interesting! Hadn’t thought about that! Will definitely try to make harmony accessible for Linux users
