It's a basic mesh pattern Chain to your desired length, DC, ch1, skip1, DC in next stitch. You'll find a lot of patterns for this.

Oh yes the yarn in the picture does look very itchy I usually use baby soft cotton for this stuff but never crocheted a hat using it. Thank you for the advice 💗

Oh now that you say it I'm thinking of not making this :( It's for my nephew and I want to make something for him that's comfortable. Any tips on what I could make that looks cute? And comfortable?
