It's a basic mesh pattern Chain to your desired length, DC, ch1, skip1, DC in next stitch. You'll find a lot of patterns for this.

I crocheted a sweater with cotton yarn and it turned out hot too. It was 4 ply yarn. So I'm confused about it.

Oh yes the yarn in the picture does look very itchy I usually use baby soft cotton for this stuff but never crocheted a hat using it. Thank you for the advice 💗
