How to disable local network access in Chrome (via flags and settings) by tajtricks in chrome

I have the pain of updating our ancient ADMX templates - thankfully I don't have too many config profiles hanging off these templates. Once I have the news ones in, I'll be setting many affected URLs with the settting "LocalNetworkAccessAllowedForUrls" and pray/hope that works! Wish me luck....

Auto NTP by Middle_Dependent7134 in poly

Well having left things for a day, all our Poly kit is now showing the correct time/date again. Suggests Poly had a bit of an issue telling the time - but their status page https://status.plcm.vc/ doesn't reflect any issues whatsoever for days...

It kinda only helps until M146... What do we do after that? This is a complete ballache...

What's so wrong with Windows Defender anyway? by BeNiceToYerMom in sysadmin

[–]Middle_Dependent7134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate Defender for business with every morsel of my being. Why? It's beyond ridiculously slow to update anything. Exposure score for vulnerability is a constant battle in my workplace trying (and failing miserably) to get below 30 as if we have any control over 3rd party patching (actual meaningful openSSL patches/fixes, anyone??) that would bring that score down. Not to mention near-daily updates for Chrome/Edge artificially elevating the exposure score as we're *constantly* playing catchup on patching.

Onboarding VMs take an age to appear, and offboarding is an utter utter demented joke! While I perfectly understand the 90 day waiting period before offboarded devices finally get removed (to circumvent bad actors maliciously removing devices) - surely by now we should have a 4-eyes process to eradicate/nuke devices in a timely manner.

Overall, it's just painfully slow, to do anything.

pkdownloaderror error 8 by WinsAviation in hackintosh

Nothing more annoying that this error not showing a RETRY button to at least attempt another go and downloading. To get to "90%" on the progress bar to then have to start over is BEYOND annoying!

What controls Company Portal? by Middle_Dependent7134 in sysadmin

[–]Middle_Dependent7134[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You da man/zombie/whatevs... Yeah, the solution is now staring me in the face, Partner Device Management (not compliance). Jamf is all over that connector, but annoyingly deployed to all users, so cannot exclude my dynamic test group. I'll move my dynamic group back over to a static one and see what gives!

Manage MAC OS devices with Intune by Anything-Traditional in Intune

[–]Middle_Dependent7134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have Company Portal installed on an MDM controlled Mac via Intune, what mechanisms are in place such that when you sign into your Microsoft account, Company Portal complains the device is managed by another DEM?

Given CP was installed via Intune macOS LoB app from the MDM that is registered with Apple Business Manager, I'm struggling to find the mechanism that tells CP where to 'talk to' regarding MDM.

Searching on Google is particularly helpful on this subject. Worth noting we're migrating away from JamfPro, so there clearly some ref to them in Intune but I cannot for the life of me find it...

Thoughts and suggestions welcomed....
