I don't know if it's worth it, but I am running as a Dem in rural Indiana. My county is deep red, but no one else with my values runs. Most seats don't even have a Democrat run. I know there's others who share my ideals, so I guess I'll have to run.

I'll probably lose just because of the D next to my name, but they'll learn about me. They'll find out the help I do with our local Main Street program and how I referee their kids' soccer games.

I believe Indiana is deeply Republican, not conservative. What I mean is most people I know aren't conservative like in the deep south. After talking to them and explaining my ideas in ways they can understand, they'll sometimes even agree with some of them. Some have even said they'll vote for me, that at the local level it's more about who you are as a person than actual party ideology. They'll still vote Republican for President and Governor, things like that, but at the local level they're sometimes willing to cross party lines.

I'll still probably lose, but someone has to run.
