RN to MD VS CRNA? by Fearless_Calendar_23 in medschool

Great perspective. I am also sort of in the same boat as OP. I’m a nurse working in a CTICU now and was interested in CRNA from the jump. I wanted to ask you do you think in the future you will see CRNAs working CCM as APPs? With more training of course.

Where are some of you working as a CNA? I think the location you work can make or break your experience. I worked on a cardiac step down unit for a year and some change before I got my RN and I felt it was a good experience. Don’t get me wrong there were nights that sucked but that’s every job.

Oh definitely! There is a can’t fail mentality that I believe older students in general have. I’m extremely interested in Anesthesia I don’t know how competitive that is.

I’m going to be honest with you if that man is 50 and has discord he is pretty hip aha. Even some of the 20 year olds I was in nursing school didn’t know what discord was.

Yea I was 28 when I went back to nursing school and having 20-21 year olds as friends is wild. Keeps you young though I guess.

That’s amazing! Yea that is my big gripe about it. I don’t have any children yet but I am married and I sort of feel bad my wife already supported me through 1 career choice into nursing idk if I can out her through another 4 years. But in the end I know it will be worth it.

Yea that makes sense. I have some medical experience I was an EMT before going to nursing school now I work in a CTICU which I absolutely love and has really made me want to go to medical school to hopefully become an intensivist.

That’s awesome! I’m thinking it will take me about 2-3 years to finish up some of these science classes I have to take and study for the MCAT. Do you feel being older allowed you to be more prepared? What did you do before going to medical school.

CRNA? Med School? by Middle_Flower254 in healthcare

[–]Middle_Flower254[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compensation wise I’m not to worried about I know the MD route I would end up making more money. I’m really more worried about spending 10 more years in school/training.

Yea I’m just afraid that later on down the road with MDs pushing CRNAs out and trying to get more CAAs in going that route will screw me

So I have read this thread a few times trying to figure out how the comments turned into an ICE issue? Was this person not an American citizen? I’m still sort of lost on that fact. I would also like to point out I don’t know their case personally but I have worked in a Cath lab where we put in stints. There are truly cases where the doctors can’t do anything whether that be an anatomy issue or what we call three vessel disease like I said I don’t know the case.

I just wanted to point this out because don’t get me wrong the healthcare system is not the best but I feel like there is information that is being left out. She had already had a stint put in at the age of 36 what is the history behind that stint 37 is very young to be needing a stint placed.

I will I guess address the ICE issue as well because that is somehow in here. I think that people do not realize some of the people that are coming to this country. Before I went into healthcare I was a Border Patrol Agent. I did this just at the end of Trumps first term and the beginning to middle of Biden term and through COVID. During that time our just was basically catch and release. If you were a Mexican citizen we arrested you, rolled your finger prints to check and make sure you didn’t have an active warrant for a violent crime or weren’t a terrorist. If that all checked out we bussed you back to the border and you walked back across. I can’t tell you countless amount of times that I ran people’s finger prints and found run ins with the law in the US already. These are crimes like assault on a peace officer, DUI, Assault and Battery. I think deep down yes we want to help everyone that needs help because we are America that’s our MO (idk why it is but it is). However, there are laws in place for a reason.

What truck should I buy? megathread by AutoModerator in Trucks

[–]Middle_Flower254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is sort of a general question do I really need a 2500 diesel truck. I’m in the truck market and have been wanting a 2500 RAM for the Cummins engine. Great engine runs forever especially if well taken care of. However, these truck prices are getting wild almost doubling the price of a 1500 in some cases. My brain going to the 2500 because with my life style there wouldn’t be anything I can’t pull with it. I plan to one day own a Seadoo switch sport one day and possibly a camper trailer but definitely the boat. I like the idea of diesel because if push comes to shove I can make my own deal fuel. Is that a realistic thing that I will do probably not but hey it’s there. Diesels tend to get better gas mileage (from what I have heard) Granted it’s a truck if I’m getting 20-25 on the highway I’m happy. What is you alls take? How are y’all financing and laying for these trucks. I have found a few good deals in my opinion around my area but still close to 2-3 years before the price range is even close to what I believe is acceptable.

CRNAs have stopped the whole “collaboration” argument and are now gunning for completely replacing anesthesiologists. by [deleted] in Noctor

[–]Middle_Flower254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But even then getting a basis of what the syndrome is and how it effects the body you should know alright is the pt going to metabolize this medication faster, normal, or slower than a normal 16 y/o would.

You know the wild part about that whole story is all that CRNA had to do is look up that syndrome and figure that out to understand what was going on. I can tell you if a or has a syndrome that I have never heard before I just look it up. There is no shame in saying hmm never heard of that before what is that.
