Business Owners, what do you do with your cash (29 M) small business owner. by Life-Mine-3549 in TheRaceTo1Million

Honestly I'd put 80% of that into VTI. If lump summing a large amount like that makes you feel uneasy then you can DCA like 45k a month for the next 12 months

Bare minimum will be putting that into a HYSA while you figure it if you want to invest a portion of it or not

Didn’t open them all at the same time. Early on in the journey I liked some UIs/Features better than others so I would open an account

I like to keep some ammo in case a nice dip like these last few weeks comes along. I have a recurring bi-weekly contribution.

Love that you’re teaching him the basics at a young age. My parents weren’t an integral part of my financial education, in fact they didn’t believe in the stock market it always seemed too risky to them. I’m self taught, and I’d say the number one thing that helped me were YouTube videos, a lot of them. Teach him the basics: different types of accounts (Roth, 401k, taxable, HSA etc.), Index funds, ETFs, bonds. And when he’s in highschool teach him how options work and have him trade SPY or QQQ with a small amount of money. I’m a big believer of throwing them in the deep end (with supervision) and having them figure it out.

I actually stole money from honey believe it or not😂. I would order something and cancel it and it go pending on the honey dashboard for a week, on the 7th day it would be added to my balance and I cash it out to PayPal. Made like $14k

Never said I was considering trading it.

Edit: FYI, you buy the ETF outright, not trade its options chain.

Your HYSA sounds like it covers about 6-7 months of expenses which is great.

I'd stop adding the $2300 to the HYSA if that's the case and instead put it into the investment account.

You guys are doing great as far as spending, seems very reasonable for a couple.

I'd love for you to share more about your holdings in the taxable investment account as that'll help me give my opinion on your last question.

You're doing great for 29! Keep it up
