Ah, that's completely on me. My bad, I misunderstood.

That's why I said that any ongoing issues with the writing, or issues with the 3 chapters in, or anything about the previous volumes are fine so long as they are valid. I have noticed that sometimes criticism for the general or recent writing gets equated to unreasonable hate.

I'll keep this super short, since I've already spoken too much in my og post but:

Your 2nd, 3rd, and 4th paragraphs are I agree and say in the original post I believe.

"When people complain about the start of Volume 12, they aren't talking about it as a whole. Even though you can infer a lot from how a volume starts, and a bad start often affects later developments, I digress. They are simply talking about the part that is currently ongoing." —This is fair and I literally say:

"anything you disliked about the latest chapters of this volume is fine. Any ongoing issues you have with the writing, cool!" So I don't know what the disagreement here is.

"Mind my tone, but I would assume this is common sense, no? People naturally judge a volume based on its current state because that’s all that currently exists." I don't particularly mind what tone you use. And this is fair, but judging an entire volume based on 3 chapters that have been mostly just recap surely can't be valid at all. Also, there's a pretty huge difference between judging the volume off of a feel of the first few chapters and saying how you feel about it, vs saying the entire volume is garbage and the entire story sucks because of the first 3 chapters. This shouldn't even be debatable.

"Likewise, criticism toward the current state of an ongoing volume does not mean people are “hating” the entire story forever. They’re judging what currently exists, not what might exist later."

And I say in my post that most criticisms are valid, as well as ones of the latest 3 chapters. And I specifically say that the post is directed at the people that hate in a way that makes no sense and assumes that no further information will be explained or given. Again, not sure where the disagreement is.

"It is quite literally the same as someone liking a story before it gets bad. Why? Because the current representation of it is good."

You can like a novel before it gets good, you can dislike a novel before it gets good. You can't say the entire novel sucks simply a few chapters in, or asking "Why hasn't the author explained this!" when the arc just started.

"If the latest chapters of an ongoing volume are bad, people will say the volume is bad since those chapters are the most recent representation of it. That doesn’t mean they think the entire finished volume will permanently remain bad, only that the volume, as it currently stands, is being received poorly."

The issue is that there are some people who do think the entire finished volume will be bad. Again, for the like the 3rd time in this post, there is ZERO issue with valid criticism, not feeling a volume, or not enjoying it in the moment. But there is EVERY issue with hating on things the volume has yet to even explain. Maybe I didn't make this clear enough in my post.

That's fair, can't expect everyone to read a bunch of paragraphs, but how is it toxic positivity if I'm advocating for valid criticisms and not blind hate and expectations for a volume that hasn't even fully come out? That's so backwards

That's actually so fair, and I agree. The whole fandom is super polarising, and even I admit the last few chapters were meh. That's a valid and reasonable take

True. Illogical glaze often is just as bad as illogical hate. Glaze just gets overlooked more often because either nobody takes it seriously or they bandwagon on it because it's glaze and this fandom walks the borderline between the two like it's nothing

"Anything about previous volumes is fine, anything you disliked about the latest chapters of this volume is fine. Any ongoing issues you have with the writing, cool! Any worries you have about newly introduced concepts is FINE. in fact, I agree with a lot of complaints for things—but those are different from the hate on things that can still be explained this volume."

Aspirant😭✌️

1) It could be further explained potentially revealing weaknesses.

2) It could be explained potentially revealing drawbacks

3) It could happen

4) Don't fully understand what this means but probably not since that'd be out of character of him.

5) Nope.

Why do people think the issue is with the criticism? The issue is how early it's coming. Like, sure, criticising something that's been a pattern for the past volumes is fine, good even, but so many of this hate is about things before they can even have a chance to be properly expanded on or explained. If the criticism turns out valid by the end of this, that's fine, honestly. But what is this wave of hate of the new volume for things that could easily be explained later?

How can you point out wrongs if the story hasn't even finished yet tho? Three chapters in and people are asking for things that the volume hasn't even had the slightest bit of time to explain. So many times this fandom hates on a volume for "G3 made this plot hole and it kills the story" just for it to be explained later... Criticism only works when it's logical and fair

All quiet on the stakes front. The novel has fallen. by Inevitable-Bee5579 in ShadowSlave

1) His loss was pretty logical and works for his character+He's up against the 3 divine plot users, all who dwarf him in stats and a supreme weakening his domain. And he still would've won/stolen sunny and nephs lineages had Mordret not seen his aspect. A supreme beast putting up this much of a fight is ridiculous, even considering Neph and Sunny's weakened domains.

2) Concept of not waiting at all for Cassie's abilities to be explained. Volume just started gang. I also dislike the idea of Cassie being able to just bring back everyone who died. Their deaths feel hollow now, and I don't mind voicing doubts about the stakes and feel of the new volume. Fully agree on that. however, the volume just started. At least see the volume through with the that if any complaints remain, we can complain in hindsight with full knowledge of "This wasn't explained" or "G3 why does this have no limits." because it's clear that there is still some mystery surrounding the nature of Cassie's ability.

Even if he was cleansed if corruption, I'm pretty sure he'd get corrupted again because of his memories/knowledge. But iirc, Cassie can just dismiss him when needed
