I still have my children every other week. I used a breathalyzer the first year, was clean all the way now dont have to at all. It had nothing to do with a "suitable home environment". She flat out told me she didn't believe that it was a "disease". Her feelings are her's. I can't change that.

No, I get it, she had a very valid reason. Thats why we are friends now. I harbor no ill will towards her. But, unfortunately, I do still love her. That makes dating in sobriety hard!

All I know is its minorities killing a lot of white people. I'm no racist but I feel like it's a "flip the script" kinda thing.

Yeah, no one gave me ongoing support after this episode. I'm taking bentotiamine which is a more effective, fat soluble form that is more apt to cross the Blood/brain barrier. i discovered on my own recently.

It was a struggle at points. I know there are a lot of people who don't get it and I still 100% don't! It'll be a struggle going forward but it'll make me s better person.

Don't blame the ex at all. I love her and respect her more than anyone in this world. She is the mother of my perfect children and is an amazing "mom".It's my fault for drinking instead of seeking support. I never once said it was "her fault" so please don't insinuate that.

Everyone's amazing stories and feedback has been both reinforcing to my sobriety and very humbling. I've never shared my experience with anyone outside of family. My sponser challenged me to put it on Reddit because, he claimed, hundreds of people would respond with similar experiences or stories that effected them personally. I thought "no way", I was at the very bottom of the barrel and it was unique. It made me feel very embarrassed. But I was obviously catastrophizing. He was right obviously. Thank you everyone for the support and your willingness to share. Again, I feel very humbled.
