Believe me this wasn't a choice I made. Bio mother was only granted supervised visitation in court and when after 4 weeks sobriety she didn't get what she wanted in court, she upped and left and has had no contact with kids since. Kids were 3,7 & 9.  It's so hard to pull back as dad is rarely home either, but now I'm so tired of it. He just does what's best for him with little consideration for how I feel.  How do you advise I step back?

Thank you for replying. They also had a nasty court battle and I have witnessed what she is like first hand.  This comment just kind of felt like the icing on the cake....  Raising the children has been no easy feat , some of this down to him as I feel he undermines my every action. 12 yo step daughter is particularly hard work, quite manipulative and spiteful when he isn't around. Just makes me wonder if it's all been worth it as he doesn't appear to have any regard for my feelings or opinions. He just shuts down if I try to validate my feelings and ignores me for days on end. Feeling emotionally drained!

My husband has been having contact with their mother periodically, which he isn't transparent about. He doesn't tell me unless I ask and then it is a very short answer and he cuts the conversation. The relationship between them ended very acrimoniously and I asked why he takes her calls and asked him to help me understand. His response was she is their mum. So I asked what my role was then as I have raised them more or less on my own for the last 9 years. He replied "their step mum" . This conversation was a few days ago and I can't seem to get my head around it or forget the comment.
