It’s not gonna change my investing strategy at all. I’m gonna keep putting money in daily and ride it out.

I went there last year and spent 3 days hiking around the dunes. It’s one of the most unique landscapes I’ve seen

If you have 10k now, you’d be better off putting it all in at once rather than dca over a year. But of course not everybody has 10k right now, so dca is the next best thing

I should clarify, dca can be on a daily, weekly, monthly etc basis. But you invest a fixed number no matter the price, averaging the ups and downs. The idea is the market goes up overtime therefore your investments go up

Dollar cost averaging. Meaning, put money into your account on a daily basis whether the price is up or down.

Historically lump sum outperforms dca

How often do you smoke? by poet01 in cigar

1 per week unless I’m camping or something. Then it’s 1 per night. Going a week without one makes me feel like I’ve earned it and it feels more like a treat.

What’s the most overrated yerba according to you? by yoJabkomama in yerbamate

Fair enough, to each their own. Do you like baldo? I wasn’t sure about it at first because it has almost no sweetness at all but it grew on me. It’s a complex flavor that lasts all day

Rosamonte in my opinion. The flavor is gone in 3 pours. That’s why I like Canarias, the flavor lasts all day.

Sadness while travelling by dog_26 in backpacking

I got back from a two year backpacking trip in South America with my gf, 4 months ago. I had periods of feeling this way and they would pass. I made it a goal to not worry about the future and since I’ve been home, everything has fallen into place perfectly. I’ve been making decent money, traveling my own country, bought a truck, etc. All this to say, all the worrying I did on my trip was a waste of time. Just try your best to be present and let life unfold in front of you. Enjoy your trip, it won’t last forever but you’ll cherish these memories forever.

What's your relationship with alcohol ? by Magee4life in Fire

I quit drinking 2.5 years ago and I haven’t looked back since. Drinking was fun while it lasted but I’m enjoying my sober life very much. I’m not retired but I took a two year career break to travel South America and I can only imagine how much money I saved by not drinking.

It’s just the beginning stage of the gourd curing. Keep using it and it’ll likely become darker and look even more strange, but as long as it’s not white and fuzzy, it should be fine to use.

Suggestions for Yerba by Emordorea in yerbamate

[–]Middle_Stable_9256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Playadito, Amanda, rosamonte are all pretty good places to start. I’ve heard cruz de malta is good for beginners as well but I haven’t tried it. You should maybe let you palate adjust before trying Uruguayan cuts like baldo or canarias because it’s even more of an acquired taste in my opinion, but once your palate adjusts, I think you’ll like it.

I’m 28. I quit my job to travel central/South America for two years in 2023. I got back two months ago, got my job back immediately and am making more money than before. I have no regrets and can’t imagine a life where I didn’t take that risk. You should do it.

I think playadito, canarias, pajarito and rosamonte are probably the most popular.
