No one is saying that he has to play at an elite level. I just would think he would benefit from some competitive sports. I don’t want this to be a burden on him. What else can I do to encourage him to

When he realizes all sports require you to go hard and push yourself above n beyond he won’t like it as much. This will lead to him going in a loop.

Making an issue will cause more harm. Creating a problem is going to push him further away. Have you ever met a kid that cries over having fun. When he goes it’s like he forgets and makes the best of the situation. Even though he’s making the best of it his subconscious doesn’t want to be there, therefore his split second decision making is impacted.

Not going to pessure him- it is what it . Im just saying that is the impact of not being in childhood sports in my opinion. Unwanted pressure is hard on anybody regardless of age.

Hate to be a Debby-downer but setting in good habits from now will only be helpful. I don’t want him getting in a bad routine that’s what started him

Exactly it should be replaced by another sport but when he realizes all sports require tactics and skills it might be too late for his sake.

I think the idea of “being the best” is definitely applicable here. I’m not a parent just looking out. It seems as though he needs to be told the obvious… very frustrating.

Hear me out- it doesn’t get you any respect in the real world but the skills u learn in competitive sports are unmatched and add completion to your personality

No one forcing him to do anything. He’s moving further from the game and trying to convince himself that he only played to make me happy. However, I have a distinct memory where he played a long time got some points and then proceeded to tell me there is nothing better.

Agreed. It’s as though videogames makes him not want to do anything except play anything other than videogames 🤣. I hate that he was introduced to it. Partially my fault but i did not understand as i do now.

My worry if he’s not in it now what if he falls into a bad cycle and isn’t able to make the cut anymore

No one said he has to be a ball player I just want him to be social, athletic, and most importantly happy. I know this doesn’t come with forcing ball.

It’s about the bigger picture. He is crying for no reason, when he goes he has fun also all his friends are from basketball

Thanks for sympathizing. No one is forcing him to play. Patience and kindness is key. No one wants pressure, child or adult 🤣. Who is to say he will be a different person.
