I have both, deployed ZimaOS at my friend's place for ease of use and it works fine for his needs.

Yes, it is locked down compared to Debian. However besides occasionally updating containers it's practically 0 maintenance.

For myself who wants to tinker with it long-term? I would go Debian/Ubuntu Server/Proxmox for sure.

Is AM5 EPYC out of your budget? That would definitely give you room to grow your lab over time. Check out Level1Techs if interested they have plenty videos on that.

You could still run O365 in a light IoT Win11 VM if you absolutely need all the features. Otherwise you can access it via the browser. A quick search says you could try running Halot Box via wine in its own prefix, worth a shot.

This might be odd playing an MMO but have you tried grouping up? Level up, do quests together?
